Factory Game Scene Engraved Ludwig Borovnik .410 Bore
Over/Under Shotgun - Serial no. 40.2831, 410 gauge, 26 inch vent rib bbl., blue/coin finish,
walnut stock. Built with blued Bohler Blitz steel barrels featuring dual bead sights (mid-bead
absent) on the matted vent rib which is marked “Lud. Borovnik-Ferlach”, light engraving at the breech, 1967
dated Ferlach proof marks, choke constrictions of .020/.020 inches, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels
are fitted to a coin finished boxlock action which displays scroll engraving along with a covey of pheasants on the left, a covey of
grouse on the right, and a cabin with “Flaig’s” marked on the triggerguard indicating the gun was retailed by Flaig’s Guns of Millvale, PA. The gun features bushed firing
pins, a single trigger, and a tang mounted safety/selector. The gun is fitted with a lightly figured three-piece forend with engraved fittings and a beautifully figured pistol grip stock with cheekpiece and
horn grip cap and buttplate. Stock measurements: 1 3/8 inch drop at comb; 2 11/16 inch drop at heel; 14 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 1 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and coin finishes, some dried grease on the action, and sharp checkering on the wood. The horn grip cap shows a few small cracks and some insect damage on the
buttplate. Mechanically excellent.

Factory Engraved Gebruder Merkel Hand Detachable Sidelock Over/
Under Shotgun - Serial no. 70285, 12 gauge, 28 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut
stock. The gun is built with blued Bohler Stahl barrels featuring a single white bead sight on the matted solid rib,
import mark under the forend, front sling swivel, 1968 dated German proofs, and 3 inch chambers with automatic
ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a highly attractive coin finished bolstered hand detachable sidelock action which displays deep cut
floral scroll engraving surrounding “GEBRUDER MERKEL” in a banner on the underside before continuing onto the triggerguard, toplever,
and both tangs. The gun features double triggers and a tang mounted manual safety. The gun is fitted with an attractively figured and multi-point
checkered three-piece forend with engraved coin finished fittings as well as a pistol grip stock with black polymer grip cap, Shelhamer chinstrap, raised
cheekpiece, rear sling swivel, and a checkered horn buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .718/.721
inches; choke constriction .024/.037 inches; minimum wall thickness .034/.035 inches; 1 9/16 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 1/2 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 5 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 98% original blue finish with some rubbing at the muzzle, 99% original coin finish, some minor areas of dried grease, stress line at upper tang, and sharp
checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent.

rib which is marked “SIMSON,
SUHL (THURINGEN)”, “SPEZIAL-
GEWEHRLAUFSTAHL” marked
on either side of the upper
tube, front sling swivel, attractive scrollwork at the breech, 1952 dated
German proofs, and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The
barrels are mated to a coin finished bolstered sidelock action which
displays scroll engraving surrounding deeply cut oak leaves on the bolsters and a trio of fine game scenes.
The game scenes consist of a roe buck and two does running in a forest, the underside has a capercallie rooster displaying for a hen, and the right
has a raptor diving on a flock of mallard at a pond. The action also bears a small import mark on the frame rail. The gun features double triggers,
cocking indicators, bushed lower firing pin, and a tang mounted safety. The gun is fitted with a nicely figured and multi-point checkered three-piece
forend with engraved fittings and a pistol grip stock with horn grip cap, raised cheekpiece, rear sling swivel, and walnut extension with hard rubber
Sauer buttplate. Included is a second matching 24 5/8 inch combination barrel set chambered for 7x65R and 12 gauge with a 2 3/4 inch chamber
and .034 inch choke constriction. Also included is a set of German claw mounts with no scope and a wood and canvas takedown case for the set.

CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 98% original blue and coin finishes with minor freckling and dried grease on the barrels, and minor handling evidence. The wood is very good with some
light dings and scratches, buttplate cracked at toe, and overall worn but well-defined checkering. The case and extra barrel set are very fine. Mechanically excellent.
