Large Western Frontier Themed “Wagon and
Remuda” Framed Print by Olaf Wieghorst - Olaf
Wieghorst (1899-1988) was a Danish-American artist
who focused on art involving the American West,
particularly involving horses. He emigrated to the
U.S. in 1918, and from c. 1920-1922, he worked with
the mounted patrol of the U.S. 7th Cavalry Regiment.
Some of his work featured in Zane Grey’s “Western
Magazine” as well as in the opening title sequence of
John Wayne’s “El Dorado”. This print focuses primarily
on the landscape of the American West, showing a
rocky desert scene with a chuck wagon and remuda,
or herd of spare cattle driving horses passing through
it. The print shows the original signature in the lower
left, “57” copyright date in the lower right, a “699/1000”
limited edition number in the lower left and a hand
signed signature in the lower right. The print is attractively matted with burlap in a hardwood frame which measures
approximately 31 3/4 by 37 3/4 inches. Consignor states this item is from the personal collection of Hollywood icon
John Wayne, which hung in his office at Deco Engineering, and was given to him by Olaf Wieghorst.
CONDITION: Excellent, the print shows distinct image and vibrant color, showing only the slightest handling/storage
evidence overall, including the frame. An excellent decor piece for an office or gun room!

chamber, with the serial number “S
799” on the left. Mounted on a matching finished “W.R.A.Co.” marked
steel carriage with pined steel wheels. Measures 6 1/2 inches wide and
11 1/2 inches long. Includes a matching numbered “ONE/BREECH/LOADING/CANNON” marked Winchester
wooden crate, separated striker lanyard, and a 8-Track cartridge marked Bing Crosby. The consignor states
the cannon was purchased from Gary Hess and was from the personal collection of John Wayne and further
noted that Wayne would fire it on his yacht the Wild Goose at Catalina Island every day at 5 to let the dock
master know it was time for a drink on his boat. The cannon firing tradition continues at Catalina today.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 89% plus black finish with some dimpling in the paint, chipping an
minor spotting on the carriage and wheels, a broken striker spring, and light handling marks.

Factory Engraved J. P. Sauer & Sohn Backaction Hammer Drilling with Case Attributed to John Wayne -
Serial no. 48001, 16/11.15x65mm R gauge, 26 13/16 inch solid rib bbl., brown/coin finish, walnut stock. Built with
brown Damascus steel shotgun barrels and a fluid steel rifle barrel featuring a low blade front sight and dual flip-up
rear sight son the matted solid rib, dual rear sights added to inset blocks for the shotgun barrels, J. P. Sauer & Sohn
markings on either barrel, and period German proofs. The shotgun barrels have choke constrictions of .027/.025
inches and chambers measured 2 9/16 inches with an extractor. The barrels are fitted to a coin finished rebounding
hammer backaction which displays near full coverage oak leaf engraving extending to the underlever, hammers, and both tangs. The gun is fitted with double triggers (front single set, a folding peep sight
in the upper tang, and a toplever selector. The gun is mounted with a multi-point checkered forend with engraved fittings and a round knob pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece, engraved cartridge trap, and a horn buttplate.
Included is a wood and leather takedown case, two boxes of Baikal 16 gauge shells, and two pieces of 11.15x65mmR brass. Length of pull 13 7/16 inches. Weight 7 lbs. 13 oz. The consignor states this drilling was purchased from
Gary Hess and is from the personal collection of Hollywood icon John Wayne.
CONDITION: Very good as refurbished, retaining nearly all of the dark brown finish, original coin finish on the action, a repair to the left rib, a few light handling marks, and crisp checkering on the wood. Mechanically excellent. The
case is very fine.

Documented Cased Pair of Winchester Model 94 Centennial ‘66
Commemorative Long Guns from the Personal Collection of Hollywood
Icon John Wayne -A) Winchester Model 94 Centennial ‘66 Saddle Ring
Rifle - Serial no. 11843, 30-30 Win cal., 26 inch octagon bbl., blue/bright
finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1966 to commemorate the centennial
anniversary of the Winchester Model 1866, these Winchester Model 94s were
finished to look similar to the legendary “Yellow Boy”. This pair, including
a rifle and a carbine, have the standard Winchester and commemorative
markings and features. These two Winchesters are mounted in an included
display case, very similar to the case containing John Wayne’s “True Grit” vest
which we sold in our August 2024 Premier Firearms Auction, which measures
approximately 23 1/4 x 53 1/2 x 3 inches, along with a plaque that they are
from John Wayne’s personal collection. Included with the lot are copies of a
1975 dated appraisal of John Wayne’s personal gun collection carried out by
The Grant Boys, which lists both of these Winchesters by serial number.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retains 99% plus of the original blue finish, the
brass mostly bright with some very light surface spotting/residue, and only
the slightest handling evidence overall. Mechanically untested as cased. The
display frame/case is also excellent with only the slightest handling/storage
evidence. B) Winchester Model 94 Centennial ‘66 Saddle Ring Carbine -
Serial no. 98803, 30-30 Win cal., 20 inch octagon bbl., blue/bright finish,
walnut stock. See “A”, in case with “A”.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retains 98% plus of the original blue finish with
the brass mostly bright, showing only the slightest handling evidence overall. Mechanically untested as cased.
