Desirable and Scarce Early Production MBAssociates Mark I Model B 13 mm Gyrojet Carbine,
Serial Number “B0095”, with MBAssociates Box and AimPoint Red-Dot Optic - Serial no. B0095,
13 mm cal., 16 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in the 1960s, the Mark
I Model B Gyrojet carbine uses a 13 mm solid fuel rocket in place of a standard bullet and cartridge.
Since the rocket does not require a solid chamber to contain ignition nor extractor equipment to eject
a casing, MBAssociates was able to greatly simplify the design of its rocket-fired firearms, constructed
mostly from a lightweight material called Zamac (a zinc alloy). Educated collectors of the MBAssociates
Gyrojet arms estimate that the total number of Mark 1 pistols, carbines, and rifles produced being no
greater than 1,900, with this specific carbine being the 95th manufactured. Produced without iron sight
provisions, it features a Picatinny rail mount on the barrel topped off with an AimPoint 2000, reward
falling hammer with exposed cocking lever protruding from the left side, a safety lever also protruding
from the left side, a ventilated rear portion of the “action” with a opening slide allowing access to the
internal box magazine housed in the grip, along with the one-line MBAssociates address and “B0095”
serial number on top of the barrel over the “MARK 1 MODEL B 13 mm GYROJET ROCKET CARBINE” designation. Fitted with a smooth varnished walnut stock
with a raised cheek rest and a pair of finger grasping groove cut varnished walnut grips. Includes an original MBAssociates cardboard shipping box with a
matching serialized label.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 97% plus original nickel plating with limited minor rub wear at the rear of the slide, a few minor pits on top of the slide, and
clear address and model markings. The stock is also excellent with a few minor nicks and scratches. The hammer drops with the safety activated, otherwise
mechanically functions. The optic electronically functions as tested. The box is fine with some riffled edges, removed tape, and mostly intact labels. Overall an attractive nickel plated early
production example of a scarce MBAssociates Mark I Model B 13 mm Gyrojet carbine complete with the original box!
Estimate: 10,000 - 16,000

Desirable Cased Early Production MBAssociates Mark I Model B Gyrojet Pistol with
MBAssociates Certificate - Serial no. B203, 13 mm cal., 5 inch round bbl., black finish, walnut grips.
Manufactured c. 1965-1966, this MBAssociates Mark I Model B Gyrojet Pistol is one of the first 1,000
produced, as authenticated by the included matching numbered MBAssociates certificate, signed
by company president Robert Mainhardt and dated January 6, 1966. Instead of conventional cased
ammunition, the Mark I Gyrojet uses 13 mm solid fuel rocket projectiles. Since these rocket projectiles do
not require a solid chamber to contain ignition nor extractor equipment to eject a casing, the entire pistol
is greatly simplified over conventional handguns and constructed from mostly lightweight materials.
Features adjustable blade front and fixed notch rear sights, front-mounted hammer, internal single-stack
box magazine with viewing slit in the left side of the grip, “PATENT PENDING” marked on the right and the two-line MBAssociates address
on the left of the barrel ‘rib’, three-line model, and caliber markings above the serial number on the left of the frame, and a safety lever on
the left rear portion of the frame. Fitted with a pair of smooth walnut grips. Also included with the pistol are a walnut MBAssociates
display case fitted to the pistol with red felt interior, a commemorative coin themed for Robert Goddard (credited as the inventor of
the first liquid fueled rocket), and 10 unfired Gyrojet 13 mm rocket projectiles (five ‘spitzer’ type, five ‘wad cutter’ type).
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% plus original black finish with some minor thinning and rub wear around the base of the grip
frame and on the bottom of the backstrap, otherwise limited handling evidence. The grips are also excellent with a very small chip
missing from the bottom rear of the right panel. The hammer does not stay cocked, mechanically needs adjustment.
The case is very fine.
