and Gold Inlaid Renato Caem .410 Bore
Double Barrel Shotgun with Case - Serial
no. 5730, 410 gauge, 27 11/16 inch solid rib
bbl., blue/coin/gold finish, walnut stock. Built
with blued steel chopperlump barrels, featuring a
single white bead sight on the hand filed cut concave
solid rib which is engraved “RENATO CAEM MARCHENO
ITALY” in a panel near the base, Italian proof marks on the flats dating to
2000, single band of light engraving at the breech, engraving to match the
action on the exposed bottom of the front lump, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to
the scalloped boxlock action, likely by Piotti, which is scaled for .410 bore and displays highly attractive tight scroll engraving cut through with scrolling vines
tipped with floral bouquet. There is a wonderfully executed pair of quail on the underside accented in gold, beneath the gold inlaid “RENATO CAEM” maker’s mark. The
fences, toplever, both tangs, and trigger guard all feature the deeply cut floral scroll over a darkened background, as well as Renato Caem’s serial number “N002” on the
lower tang inlaid in gold, with numbers “003” and “004” available in the following two lots. The engraving is signed on the triggerplate “Inc Creative Art” for the world
renowned firm. The gun features double gold triggers and a tang mounted manual safety with gold inlaid “S” indicator. The gun is fitted with a gorgeous highly figured
and multi-point checkered semi-beavertail forend with engraved iron and an inlaid gold Caem crest. The straight hand stock is of the same excellent figure and features
matching checkering and a checkered bare butt. Included is a leather flat case with Ithaca Classic Doubles label, brass corners and a padded canvas cover. The case
contains a set of nickel snap caps. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech proofed and measured at 10.5 (.413 inches); choke
constriction .022/.042 inches; 1 5/16 inch drop at comb; 2 3/16 inch drop at heel; 14 7/16 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 3 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and gold finishes, 98% original coin finish, some minor discoloration on the trigger guard and triggerplate, minor
handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. The case is excellent. Do not miss out of this chance to own a fine Italian small bore double!
