“Matched Set of 4” Factory Engraved Remington
Model 1100-SD Tournament Skeet Semi-Automatic
Shotguns -A) Remington Model 1100-SD Shotgun -
Serial no. L-405339V, 12 gauge, 25 1/2 inch vent rib bbl.,
blue finish, walnut stock. This set was manufactured
in 1971. The “D”, or “Tournament”, grade was built with
serious competitors and sportsmen in mind, featuring
more subtle engraving than the Expert and Premier
grades, but benefits from the precision hand fitting by
the master gunsmiths of the Custom Shop, while the
“S”, or “SKEET”, was the configuration designed for skeet
shooters, with the “SD” being a combination of the two
known as the “Tournament Skeet”. Each gun in this set
was built with a blued barrel featuring dual bead sights
on the matted vent rib, standard factory markings, two
inch wedges of scroll engraving at either side of the rib
near the base, skeet choke, and 2 3/4 inch chambers (2 1/2
inch for the .410). The barrels are fitted to blued actions
which display highly attractive scroll engraving as well as
hand cut factory markings, including “Matched Set of 4”
at the front lower of the left side. Each gun is fitted with a
highly figured and multi-point checkered forend as well
as a pistol grip stock with white diamond grip cap and a
serrated factory buttplate (.410 has a rubber recoil pad).
