Spectacular Documented Hartley & Graham Soft Shipped New York
Engraved Nimschke Attributed “Frontier Six Shooter” Antique Colt
Single Action Army Revolver with Pearl Grips and Factory Letter -
Serial no. 89332, 44-40 cal., 5 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, pearl grips.
The Colt Single Action Army chambered in .44-40 W.C.F. was one of the
most popular firearms in late 19th century America thanks to its ability
to share ammunition with the popular Winchester Model 1873 lever
action rifles and carbines. The combination was famously popular with
men on the western frontier, and the combination has been ingrained
in the world’s popular imagination of American and the West thanks to
their extensive use in Wild West shows in the late 19th century and early
20th century and then on the silver screen in numerous westerns. Given
their utility and reliability, these six shooters often saw considerable use,
making high condition examples difficult to acquire and highly desirable.
That is especially true for those with fine engraving and special grips.
Engraved Colt Single Action Army revolvers remain among the most
iconic and highly sought after firearms today. This revolver would have
made a big statement when it left New York in the late 19th century and
remains a stand out piece of Colt and American firearms history to this
day sporting beautiful New York engraving, shining nickel plating, and
vibrant pearl grips.
