World War II U.S. Inland M1A1 Semi-Automatic
Paratrooper Carbine - Serial no. 997404, 30 Carbine cal., 18 inch round bbl., parkerized/
blue finish, metal/hardwood stock. Receiver manufactured in late 1943, from the first production
block (serial number range 101 to 999,000) manufactured by the Inland Manufacturing Division of
General Motors from May 1942 to December 1943, and also within the known serial number range
(approximately 65,000 to 4,950,000) of the first production run of M1A1 paratrooper carbines, totaling roughly 70,000 manufactured from late October 1942 to
December 1943. Features a “N” marked winged blade front sight, arsenal replacement “SA” marked milled adjustable peep rear sight, “10-43” dated Inland barrel,
unmarked type I barrel band, replacement “SG” marked type II operating rod, “455” blued flat top bolt along with a replacement “SG” milled trigger housing with
an unmarked type III magazine catch, push-button safety, and type III hammer. Fitted with a replacement “IO” marked four-rivet walnut handguard and a first
series high-wood walnut paratrooper stock, marked “IO” on the interior, with a “fat boy” profile pistol grip marked with an “ordnance wheel” stamp on the bottom
and a folding wire stock with brass riveted leather cheek rest. Includes an OD green web sling. Magazine absent.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 95% arsenal refurbished parkerized and 90% original blue finishes with some light edge wear, some light cycling wear on the bolt and receiver, some patches of dried grease in protected areas,
brown patina with some thinning visible on the trigger, scattered minor patches of spotting/freckling, and otherwise minor handling marks. The re-oiled stock is also very fine with a few scattered light dents and compression
marks, along with clear markings. Mechanically excellent.

Scarce U.S. International Harvester
“Gap Letter” M1 Garand Semi-Automatic
Rifle - Serial no. 5210241, 30-06 Springfield cal.,
24 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Manufactured c. 1955, with
a correct LMR “5 55” dated barrel and a bright “in the white” chamber. Approximately 13,243
of these “gap letter” International Harvester M1 Garands were manufactured in the assigned
5198034-5211600 serial number range, with another batch of approximately 22,000 in the
4638000-4660000 range, per page 501 of “The M1 Garand Rifle” by Bruce Canfield. This desirable variation of receiver
marking has a gap between “U.S./CAL.” and “RIFLE /.30 M1” above the International Harvester manufacturer and serial
number markings, denoting Springfield Armory manufacture of the receiver as supplied to International Harvester.
Blade front and adjustable peep rear sights, with correct “IHC” marked factory components including the bolt, rear sight
knobs, trigger guard, and operating rod, and the IHC number “1325” inside the stock channel. Smooth pistol grip stock
with a DoD eagle cartouche stamp on the left wrist, circled “P” proof stamp behind the trigger guard. The consignor
indicates the barrel throat measures at 2. Includes a green canvas web sling.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 97% original parkerized finish. Stock is very fine, with defined edges, some light scratches
and dents, and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent.

Very Fine U.S. Springfield
Armory M1D Garand Semi-Automatic
Sniper Rifle with M84 Scope, CMP Certificate of Authenticity, and FOIA Letter
- Serial no. 704218, 30-06 Springfield cal., 24 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, birch stock. Receiver originally
manufactured in July 1942 and subsequently arsenal upgraded to the M1D sniper specifications, with many rifles so converted used
during the Korean and the Vietnam Wars. Features a winged blade front sight and T105 adjustable peep rear sight assembly, World War II era Springfield Armory
pattern wide base gas cylinder with two punch marks on the bayonet lug, a chamfered cylinder lock, “O” marked cross-slot lock screw, arsenal replacement “S-A-3-5(last number
punched out)” marked M1D barrel with a parkerized chamber ring, post-war “D35382 SA” operating rod, “D28287-12SA/S-06” bolt, “12” follower, and a “D28290-5-SA” trigger housing
with “C46008-3 SA” hammer, “C46015-6SA” safety, and a stamped trigger guard. Fitted with a pair of replacement birch handguards and a replacement birch stock with a “P” firing
proof on the pistol grip and a late Type USGI (circa 1967) leather cheek rest laced to the butt. Topped off with a M84 scope with sunshade and rubber eye piece (post-and-cross hair
reticle, serial number “9892”) on a M1D optic thumb-screw mount. Includes a shipping sleeve, generic black hard case, a matching numbered Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP)
certificate of authenticity dated March 3, 2018, identifying the rifle as “M1D Garand Service Grade”, as well as a February 2, 2022 dated Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request
response letter from the U.S. Redstone Arsenal showing the rifle as reconciled by the U.S. Center of Military History at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, from September 7, 1994, to January 12,
2017, after which the rifle was transferred to the U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) in Anniston, Alabama, on February 27, 2017, then subsequently
transferred outside of the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) on March 6, 2017.
CONDITION: Very fine as arsenal upgraded to M1D specifications, retaining 95% arsenal parkerized finish with some dried greases, minor edge wear, a few small areas of discoloration,
minor cycling wear, and minor handling marks. The arsenal replacement stock is fine as sanded and re-oiled with some minor handling marks, minor staining, and thinned wood on
the right side of the trigger housing. Mechanically excellent. The scope is excellent with clear optics.
