Pre-World War II Factory Engraved Gebruder Merkel Model 300
Over/Under Combination Gun - Serial no. 21190, 16/7x57 R gauge, 25 1/2 inch solid rib bbl., blue/
casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in the 1930s. The shotgun barrel is marked “CARL
STIEGELE” and “MUNCHEN” with “GEBRUDER MERKEL/SUHL” marked on the left barrel joint and has a 2 3/4 inch chamber
and full choke. The barrels are numbered to the gun and are equipped with beaded blade front and folding notch rear sights and a sighting
groove in the matted rib. Initials have been hand marked on the rifle barrel under the forearm. The action has a scroll and floral blossom
engraving, cocking indicators, double triggers with set rifle trigger, and tang safety. Sling swivels are attached to the underside of the barrel and buttstock.
The highly figured forearm and pistol grip stock feature multi-point checkering, an engraved casehardened grip cap, a cheekpiece and a checkered factory buttplate, numbered “15360”. The forearm is also
numbered to the gun. The stock measurements are: drop at comb 1 5/8 inches; drop at heel 2 5/8 inches; length of pull 13 5/8 inches.
CONDITION: Excellent. The barrels retain 97% plus original blue finish with loss at the muzzles. The action
retains 95% original case colors. The freshened wood is very fine with a very small surface chip missing near
the upper tang, a few minor handling marks and overall crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.

Factory Game Scene Engraved Austrian Ludwig Borovnik-
Ferlach Safari Double Rifle in 7 mm Rem. Mag. with Zeiss Scope - Serial no. 40.3287,
7 mm Rem Magnum cal., 24 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin finish, walnut stock. Manufactured
in 1971, per the “71” date marking on the underside of the chambers. Features a brass beaded blade front sight on a matted and ramped rib, a
fixed express rear sight on a quarter rib, importer mark on blued dovetail lump barrels, bushed firing pins, double triggers, a tang mounted automatic safety, and
automatic ejectors. The coined and scalloped action with double Kersten crossbolts displays a detailed single game scene engraving on the underside of the action, with
a prominent cape buffalo rearing for the charge in a jungle, surrounded by intricate scroll engraving and bordering, along with patterns continued on the blued top lever and an
importer engraving on the trigger guard. Fitted with highly figured multi-point, skip-line checkered walnut forearm and buttstock with engraved and coined forend iron, a Deely latch forend
release, a shadowline cheekpiece, horn grip cap, and checkered horn buttplate. Topped off with a Zeiss DIAVARI-C 3-9x36 mm scope.
CONDITION: Excellent as factory embellished, retaining 97% plus original blue and 98% plus original coin finishes with some limited minor edge wear, some limited minor handling evidence, and crisp engraving.
The wood is also excellent with a few faint and minor compression marks, mostly crisp checkering, and very attractive wood grain. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent.

Factory Engraved Oskar Merkel & Co. Boxlock Double Rifle - Serial
no. m4478., 8x57 cal., 21 15/16 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Built with
blued Krupp Laufstahl barrels with a ramped beaded blade foresight, a two-leaf (one standing, one
folding) rear sight, and German style claw mounts on the matted solid rib, “HENRICH MUNCH” and “AACHEN” retailer
marks on the right and left respectively, 1936 dated German proof marks, front sling swivel, and chambers with a single
extractor. The barrels are fitted to the casehardened sideclipped scalloped boxlock action with Greener crossbolt which is engraved with handsome bordered light scrollwork
and “OSKAR MERKEL & Co. SUHL” on either side. The rifle features double triggers (front is single set) and a tang mounted manual safety. The rifle is fitted with a nicely figured and multi-point
checkered splinter forend with engraved iron and horn tip inlay along with a capped semi-pistol grip stock with engraved blue grip cap, rear sling swivel, and a horn buttplate. Length of pull 14 1/4
inches. Weight 6 lbs. 13 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 98% plus original blue finish, 70% original case colors in the protected areas with the balance a fine silver patina, minor handling evidence, some insect holes on the buttplate,
and crisp checkering on the lightly sanded wood. Mechanically excellent.

Factory Game Scene Engraved Gebruder Rempt Over/Under Combination Gun Two Barrel Set with Case and Scope -
Serial no. 33607, 16/8x57 gauge, 24 3/8 inch solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Built with blued steel
barrels featuring a beaded blade foresight, flip-up rear sight, and German claw mounts holding a W. H. Seibert 4x81 Jaguar
scope on the matted solid rib which is marked “GEBR. REMPT, SUHL”, front sling swivel, 1936 dated German proof marks, oak
leaf engraving at the breech, shotgun chamber 2 3/4 inches measured, and shotgun choke .038 inches measured. The barrels
are fitted to the casehardened scalloped triggerplate action with double Kersten bolts which displays oak leaf engraving
surrounding a red stag and hind on the left, a roe buck and doe on the right, and “Remo” marked on the underside. The
gun features a horn trigger guard, double triggers (front is single set), and a tang mounted manual safety. The gun is fitted
with a lightly figured and multi-point checkered three-piece forend with engraved Deeley latch as well as a pistol grip stock
with horn grip cap, shadowline cheekpiece, rear sling swivel, engraved cartridge trap, and a horn “Remo” buttplate. Includes a matching
numbered and engraved 16 gauge over/under shotgun barrel set with 2 3/4 inch chambers and chokes measuring .038/.037 inches. Also
includes a leather flat case, a leather scope case, and case straps. Length of pull 14 5/16 inches. Weight 8 lbs. 2 oz. (with scope).
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 90% original blue finish with some thinning on the side ribs, strong traces of vivid case colors in the protected
areas with the balance of the action a fine silver, some light spotting, and light handling evidence. The wood is very good with a small crack on
the underside of the forend, a crack at the triggerguard screw, some scratches, and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Scope optics are
clear. The cases are very good. Extra barrel set has some oxidation but is very good.
