Absolutely Stunning Factory Cecile Flohimont Signed, Deep Relief
Carved and Game Scene Engraved, and Gold Inlaid J. Rigby & Co.
Sidelock Dangerous Game Double Rifle in .577 Nitro Express - Serial
no. 481121, 577 N.E. cal., 24 inch solid rib bbl., blue/coin/gold finish,
walnut stock. Built with blued steel barrels featuring a beaded blade
“spear point” ramp fore sight, a four leaf (one standing, three folding)
rear express sight with gold inlaid range indicators for 50, 100, 150,
and 200 yards on the raised rear “spear point” quarter rib, 2002 dated
German proof marks, and chambers with automatic ejectors. The sunken
portion of the rib is signed “John Rigby & Co.” in gold with a smaller
non-gold inlaid “PASO ROBLES, CA” beside it. The quarter rib is marked “577
NE” in gold inlay. The barrels are fitted to a coin finished bolstered sideclipped
sidelock action with Greener crossbolt. The engraving consists of absolutely gorgeous
deeply carved relief foliate scrollwork covering nearly the entire surface of the action body, fences,
upper tang, and the blued toplever creating a simply incredible depth of field. The blued trigger guard and lower tang feature light
scroll engraving. The sides of the action onto the lockplates are both signed with gold inlaid “J. Rigby & Co.” signatures as well as another
on the underside. The engraving surrounds a trio of magnificent game scenes depicting an elephant bull, cow, and calf in a plains scene
on the left lockplate, a herd of bull elephants on the right lockplate also on the plains, and a solitary bull elephant on the underside
staring down the observer. The engraving is signed “C Flohimont” on the triggerplate for renowned Master Engraver Cecile Flohimont.
Trained under the legendary Philippe Grifnee, Flohimont is one of the world’s premier engravers to this day and is know for producing
nothing but the best. The rifle features bushed firing pins, double triggers, cocking indicators on either lockplate, and a tang mounted
manual safety with gold inlaid “SAFE” indicator.
