The gun is fitted with a gorgeous, highly figured and
fancy multi-panel checkered Schnabel tip beavertail
forend with casehardened and engraved iron as well
as a straight hand stock with matching checkering, a
woodcock in the gold inscription oval, and Hawkins red
rubber recoil pad.
Included is a brass cornered leather flat case with canvas
cover containing an L. C. Smith trade label on the interior
lid, a pair of snap caps, brass oil bottle, decocking block,
and cleaning tools.
Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter
nine inches from the breech .731/.730 inches; choke
constriction .039/.036 inches; minimum wall thickness
.028/.030 inches; 1 3/16 inch drop at comb; 1 13/16 inch
drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 3 oz.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as professionally restored,
retaining 99% blue, gold, and casehardened finishes
with minor handling evidence and crisp engraving. The
wood shows a few blemishes, a small crack on both of
the lower fingers and rear of the lockplates, and sharp
checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. The case and
accessories are very fine. This is a great chance to own a
fine and rare American double!
