.410 Bore Midas Grade Lightning Superposed Shotgun
Three Barrel Set - Serial no. 45255V7, 410 gauge, 26 3/8 inch
vent rib bbl., blue/gold finish, walnut stock. Manufactured
in 1967. Built with blued Special Steel barrels featuring a
single white bead sight on the matted flat vent rib, standard
markings with the addition of “’MADE FOR ABERCROMBIE &
FITCH’”, 2 inch wedges of scroll engraving at the breech, chokes
marked “**$”/”**$” (skeet/skeet), and 3 inch chambers with
automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to the blued action
which displays full coverage scroll engraving on punch dot
background surrounding game bird scenes showing a trio of pheasant cocks on the left, three mallards on the right, and a quail on the underside
all rendered in fine semi-relief gold inlay with gold inlaid borders around the scenes on the sides of the action. The trigger guard shows a blank
inscription shield. The engraving is signed “E.THEUNENS” on both sides of the action at the low rear. The gun features a single gold trigger and a tang
mounted safety/selector with gold inlaid “O”, “U”, and “S” indicators. The gun is fitted with a beautifully flame figured and fancy multi-point checkered Lightning forend with engraved
forend iron as well as a round knob semi-pistol grip short tang stock with “CHARLES/LYNN” marked in the gold inscription oval and a Browning recoil pad. Included are two extra matching
numbered 26 3/8 inch barrel sets; one in 20 gauge and the other in 28 gauge, both with skeet/skeet chokes. Also included is an aluminum takedown case that houses the entire set along
with three sets of snap caps. Barrel measurements for the 20 gauge set (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .623/.624 inches; choke constriction .004/.004 inches; minimum
wall thickness .039/.039 inches. Barrel measurements for the 28 gauge set (U/O): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .547/.550 inches; choke constriction .003/.006 inches;
minimum wall thickness .040/.038 inches. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 11/16 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs. 14 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 99% original blue and gold finishes with minor handling evidence. There is a small crack at the left rear of the forend; otherwise, the wood is excellent
with minor handling evidence and sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The extra barrel sets are also excellent.
