Master Engraved and Gold Inlaid Walter Moloch Signed
Belgian Browning Superposed Shotgun Four Barrel Set with
Case - Serial no. 32694S74, 12 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue/
gold finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1974 and subsequently
master embellished by Walter Kolouch. Blued steel, vent rib
barrels with dual white bead sights, 2 3/4 inch chambers with
ejectors, and skeet/skeet chokes. The blued receiver is engraved
with scrollwork and scenes from the American West, all rendered
in and bordered in gold. The right side of the receiver shows a
cowboy hunting a buffalo on horseback, the underside shows
an American Indian in a canoe with bear pelts, and the left side
features a prospector entering the infamous “Lost Dutchman
Mine” believed to be located in Arizona. The scrollwork and gold
borders extend to the barrel wedges, tangs, and release lever as
well as a gold inlaid “12” on the rear of the barrel rib. The trigger
guard shows a golden flower and just ahead of that is a golden
fleur-de-lis design. Kolouch marked his work below the
release lever “ENG.W.KOLOUCH/McMINNVILLE.ORE.”
Beautifully figured, fancy walnut forend and pistol grip
stock with fleur-de-lis checkering, engraved grip cap,
inscription oval marked “RD”, and Pachmayr rubber
buttpad. Includes three matching extra barrels, one in
20 gauge, 28 gauge, and .410 bore and a factory case
that houses the set. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch
drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel;
14 1/16 inch length of pull. Weight: 8lbs 2 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall as master embellished by
Walter Kolouch, retaining 99% blue and gold finishes,
minor handling evidence, some gaps on the forend
wood, and sharp stock checkering. The extra barrel
sets are also excellent. Mechanically excellent.
The case is very fine.
