 LOT 430 U.S. Springfield M1D Garand Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle with M84 Scope - Serial no. 1715936, 30-06 Springfield cal., 24 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. Originally manufactured in July of 1943 and subsequently arsenal upgraded to the M1D Sniper configuration. Rifles so converted were used as sniper weapons during Korea and the Vietnam War. Blade front and peep rear sights,”S-A-6-52” barrel, “DRC” windage drum, “SA” bolt, trigger housing, hammer, safety, and operating rod. Circled “P” proofmark on bottom of the wrist of the stock. Fitted with a five-prong flash hider. The M84 scope is serial numbered “28201”, with a post-and-crosshair reticle, sliding sunshield and a rubber eyepiece. Notably, the “MRT/1 52” marked leather cheekpiece has been semi-permanently installed via a pair of brass screws driven through the leather and into the wood; this would be the final step of an Army sniper getting their cheekpiece set for a personal custom fit and is not often seen on M1Ds on the market. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as arsenal upgraded to M1D configuration, retains 99% parkerized finish with only light handling marks. Stock is excellent plus with a few light handling marks. Scope is excellent, retains 99% original blue finish on the tube with a few light handling marks and crisp optics. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500

Pre-World War I U.S. Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle with Rock Island Arsenal Bayonet - Serial no. 225326, 30-06 Springfield cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This is a fine original example of a U.S. Rock Island Arsenal Model 1903 rifle which manufactured in early 1913 just prior to the outbreak of World War I. It is marked “R.I.A./flaming bomb/1-13” on top of the barrel just behind the front sight, with “R26/P” on the bottom. The bolt is marked with the steel lot code “C13” on the front of the safety lug. The receiver has the standard markings. Mounted on a smooth walnut straight grip stock with grasping grooves, one reinforcing bolt, a boxed “C.N./1913” cartouche
on the left side of the wrist, a script circled “P” proof on the underside of the wrist and a checkered steel buttplate with trapdoor (empty). Includes a Rock Island Arsenal Model 1905 bayonet dated “1906”, a leather scabbard stamped “R.I.A./1906./W.K.”, and a “H&P.1918” marked leather sling. CONDITION: Fine, 50% plus original blue finish remains with some flaking of the oil quenched finish on the receiver showing a mottled gray/brown patina, some high edge wear and some minor spotting. The stock is very fine with scattered minor scratches and dings. Mechanically excellent. The bayonet is fine with some areas of discoloration and mild wear on the scabbard. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500 LOT 432 World War II U.S. Inland M1 Semi-Automatic Carbine - Serial no. 504028, 30 Carbine cal., 18 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. “SI” marked blade front sight, “S” marked two-position flip rear sight, “7-43” dated Inland Division barrel, Type I “U” barrel band, “IO” flat top bolt, “PI” slide, “INLAND” milled trigger housing, “HI” hammer, Type I unmarked serrated push button safety, and “A.I.” magazine. “IO” two-rivet hand guard, high wood stock with circled “P” proof on the bottom of the wrist, “crossed cannons” cartouche on the right of the buttstock and “IO” marked inside the sling cutout. Includes an olive drab green canvas sling and oiler. CONDITION: Fine, retains 70% original parkerized finish with some light thinning on the barrel and scattered areas of brown patina, some light cycling wear, and sharp markings in the metal. 60% thinning original blue finish remains on the bolt with scattered moderate freckling. 97% original blue finish remains on the magazine with a small patch of mild corrosion on the front. Stock is also fine as lightly sanded and re-oiled with oversized buttplate, some light scratches and dents, a thin gouge on the left of the forend, and a mild pressure dent on the left of the buttstock. Scarce Early Production U.S. Springfield Model 1903 Bolt Action Rifle with Bayonet - Serial no. 182222, 30-06 cal., 24 inch bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. This attractive early production Model 1903 Springfield rifle was manufactured in 1907 and has been fitted with a fully figured, tiger striped pattern
walnut stock. These fully figured stocks are seldom encountered as they had a tendency to warp and/or split over time, so they were not favored for service rifles. It has the standard five-line receiver markings over the serial number and the barrel i
marked “SA/3-07”. The stock is the correct early, no-bolt “S” pattern with finger grooves on the sides, with the correct early no-clip flat top handguard without
the sighting groove down the top. It is correctly stamped with a small “s” at the rear in front of the rear sight. It has the standard front sight with the early pattern 2,400 yard rear sight with the bright polished face with the small platinum sighting line at the bottom, with the grooved windage and elevation knobs. It has the correct all milled components with a later 1918/19 pattern RIA manufactured bolt that is stamped with “NS” on the under side of the safety lug with the slightly swept back handle. It comes with an original 1918 dated leather sling and an early M1905 pattern bayonet and first pattern scabbard. The bayonet is stamped “SA/flaming bomb/1908” at the ricasso, the obverse is stamped “US/270215”, and the scabbard is stamped “R.I.A./1906/C.S.” on the back side. CONDITION: Fine as assembled with 75% plus of the faded arsenal blued finish on the metal parts with the rear sight base having browned out on the sides mixed with browning on the floorplate. The entire bolt body has been polished, removing the blue finish. The stock and handguard are both very fine with only minor handling marks on the sides with a slightly darker tone on the top of the handguard. Mechanically fine. The bayonet is very good with clear markings; however, the blade has been repolished. The scabbard is fair with no finish on the metal throat and the leather section showing wear, gouges and a darkening of the leather. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500
LOT 434 World War II U.S. Quality Hardware M1 Semi-Automatic Carbine - Serial no. 1627958, 30 Carbine cal., 18 inch round bbl., parkerized finish, walnut stock. “JQ” blade front sight and “S” two-position flip rear sight, with an Underwood “8-43” barrel, unmarked Type I barrel band, “S” and “GE-O” marked rear sight base, “EM-Q” blued finish flat top bolt, detachable operating rod spring guide, “Q-NL” milled trigger guard, “LT-Q” hammer, unmarked push button safety and an “LT-Q” magazine catch. “RMC” two-rivet handguard and high wood stock marked “Q-RMC” in the sling inlet and with the “crossed cannons” cartouche on the right, and “QU” magazine. Includes a tan canvas sling. Initials “RND” carved into the left of the stock. Includes a tan canvas sling and oiler.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% plus original parkerized finish with some areas of light thinning, scattered light freckling with some patches of very light pitting, and sharp markings in the metal. 80% original blue finish remains on the bolt. 97% original blue finish remains on the magazine. Stock is fine with defined edges, numerous scattered light scratches and dents, a noticeable re-glued cracked section on the right below the operating rod, and carving as mentioned above.
