Outstanding and Rare Connecticut Shotgun
Manufacturing Co. Remington/Parker Brothers
.410 Bore AAHE Grade Double Barrel Shotgun with Case - Serial no. P242525, 410 gauge, 28 inch
solid rib bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. These very rare
modern production Parker Brothers shotguns where made as a collaborative effort between Remington
and Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing Company. According to C.S.M.C., Remington approached them as their choice to reintroduce the Parker Gun, therefore allowing these guns to be marked in a very similar way to original Remington era Parkers with 1910 patent date and
no outward indication that they are, in fact, reproductions with the exception of the “P” serial number prefix. These guns show the same exceptional craftsmanship one expects to see from C.S.M.C. and are a faithful reproduction of the original Parker guns, and this diminutive
.410 bore gun is no exception! The gun has blued steel barrels with a single brass bead sight on concave matted solid rib, 3 1/4 inch wedges
of floral scroll engraving at either breech, chokes gauged at full/full, and 3 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The bone and charcoal casehardened boxlock action displays beautiful floral scroll engraving surrounding “PARKER” on either side as well as a pair of Gambel’s quail on the left side, a pair of woodcocks on the underside along with a gold inlaid “PARKER”, and a pair of grouse on the right side. The scroll engraving extends to
the toplever, trigger guard, and to both tangs. All of the engraving has been carried out by an unknown masterfully skilled hand and perfectly emulating the look and feel of an original Remington era Parker gun. The gun features a single selective trigger with gold inlaid “R” and “L” and a tang mounted manual safety switch with gold
inlaid “SAFE”. Beautifully figured, fancy checkered beavertail forend with engraved fittings, including the Deeley latch release, and pistol grip stock with checkered and fleur-de-lis carved flats, Parker Brothers grip cap, and engraved
blued skeleton buttplate around the checkered bare butt. The gun includes a leather bound takedown case with canvas cover containing a brass oiler, snap caps, and cleaning brushes. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 15 oz.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue and casehardened finishes, limited handling evidence, a few tiny scratches in the stock, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. The case and accessories are excellent. Mechanically excellent. This is a chance to own what is surely one of the finest modern Parker Brothers extant!
Estimate: 30,000 - 50,000
