This 19th century pistol likely came out of the Ottoman Empire and has scale pattern silver barrel bands, silver arabesque scroll accent panels along the stock, a smoothbore barrel with a calligraphic maker’s mark on the left near the breech, “N

CONDITION: Very good with aged patina on the brass, some abrasive marks visible on the engraving, a repaired replacement cock, and general mild overall wear. LOT 300 Bernardinus de Angelis Flintlock Holster Pistol - NSN, 28 bore/.54 cal., 12 3/8 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. This mid to late 18th century pistol has a smoothbore barrel with a sighting flat signed “BERNARDINVS DE ANGELIS” and a recessed section at the breech with an faint escutcheon that may have had a coat of arms. The lock has “BERNARDINVS/DE ANGELIS” signed below the bridle-less pan and some light engraving. The furniture is brass and has some simple designs. The stock has molding, border carving, and raised flats. CONDITION: Very good with gray and brown patina on the lock and barrel along with mild pitting, aged patina on

Engraved Pair of Johann Jacob Behr Flintlock Holster Pistols with Brass Barrels and Locks - A) J.J. Behr Holster Pistol - NSN, 20 bore cal., 13 7/8 inch round bbl., bright finish, walnut stock. Johann Jakob Behr was active primarily in the Maastricht/ Liege region from the 1690s to 1740s. These pistols have brass barrels, locks, and furniture. The smoothbore barrels have silver blade front sights, long sighting flats, and foliate engraving. The “banana” profile locks are signed “II-BEHR” and have faceted, bridle-less pans, beveled edges, and some small mask designs on the neck of the cocks. The furniture has a mix of classical, floral, and mask patterns. The later wrist escutcheons are engraved with coronets over a “AVF” monogram.
CONDITION: Very good with the brass displaying attractive aged patina, replacement furniture, silver-gray patina on the cock and frizzen, and moderate overall wear. The stock is good and has several cracks, splices, and other repairs, and chip absent at the nose of the lock. Mechanically fine. B) J.J. CONDITION: Very good with aged patina on the brass throughout, replacement furniture, gray patina on the iron, and mild overall wear. The stock is good and has several cracks, splices, and repairs.
