Desirable Cased Pair of Galand Tip Up Single Shot Target Pistols -A) Galand Tip Up Pistols - Serial no. 5676, 41 CF
cal., 10 5/8 inch heptagon bbl., blue finish, antique ivory grips. Manufactured by Charles-Francois Galand (1832-1900), a French gunsmith operating shops primarily in Liege, Belgium and Paris, France. The company continued under his name until 1942. This pair of pistols are very close imitations of the “Lord” pistols manufactured by Stevens in the United States. “GALAND/FABT” is marked on the left side of the both of the frames and there are Liege proofs on both the left of the frames and barrels. The bottom of the interestingly shaped heptagon barrels are marked “5676/200” and “5675/200” for the “A” and “B” pistols respectively. Both are fitted with a beaded blade front sight and an interesting adjustable rear sight that is similar in many ways to those fitted on the Bergmann Model 1896 target pistol. They are both fitted with a pair of smooth antique ivory grips. The pistols share an included hardwood case that is fitted for both the pistols as well as the included shell primer, screwdriver,
and cleaning rod.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 95% plus of the original
blue with some scattered small patches of light pitting and
95% of the niter blue on the rear sight. The grips are excellent
with a few short hairline age cracks around the grip screws.
Mechanically excellent. B) Galand Tip Up Pistol - Serial no. 5675, 41
CF cal., 10 5/8 inch heptagon bbl., blue finish, antique ivory grips. See “A”. CONDITION: Exceptionally fine, retains 95% of the original blue with some scattered patches of light pitting and 95% of the nitre blue on the rear sight. The grips are excellent with a few very short hairline age cracks around the screws and otherwise only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent.

Pair of Gold and Silver Inlaid, Engraved, and Carved M.J. Chaumont Percussion Dueling/Target Pistols - A) Chaumont Percussion Pistol - NSN, 12 mm cal., 9 5/8 inch octagon bbl., blue/gold finish, walnut stock. M.J. Chaumont was active c. 1840s-1860s in Liege. These pistols have rifled barrels with dovetailed blade front sights, “M.J. Chaumont fabt in Liege” in gold inlay accented by gold and silver inlaid scroll patterns, and “LF,” “10,” Liege proofs, and “11.8” (A) and “12.0” (B) on the undersides. “JCH” is marked inside the forends. The standing breeches have notch rear sights. The locks have “M.J. CHAUMONT/FABRICANT A LIEGE” in gold inlay and scroll engraving. The gilt nickel-silver furniture has masks, scrollwork, and classical bust compartment covers on the pommel caps. The stocks have relief carved scrollwork and fluted wrists. CONDITION: Very good as refinished with a dark brown blend of patina and applied finish on the lock and barrel, thin gilding on the furniture, most of the bright gold inlay remaining on the barrel, aged patina on the silver, and some mild oxidation/ pitting. The stock is good with a coat of varnish, mostly distinct carving, a few faint hairline cracks, some minor flakes, and general mild dings and scratches. Mechanically fine. B) Chaumont Percussion Pistol - NSN, 12 mm cal., 9 5/8 inch octagon bbl., blue/gold finish, walnut stock. See “A.” CONDITION: Very good as refinished with a blend of dark brown patina and applied finish, bright gold inlays, aged patina on the silver, strong gilding on the furniture, and general mild wear including some minor pitting. The stock is also very good and has a coat of varnish, mostly distinct carving, some minor dings and scratches, a hairline crack between the lock and trigger, and a couple tiny flakes at the heel. Mechanically fine.
