Documented Colt Second Generation Single Action Army Revolver with Black Box and Factory Letter -
Serial no. 23700SA, 45 LC cal., 7 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut
grips. The included factory letter lists this revolver as having a 7 1/2 inch barrel
chambered in .45 caliber with blue finish and wood stocks when shipped to Murta,
Appleton Company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 7, 1958. Matching serial numbers are found on the
frame, triggerguard, and backstrap with partial serial number “700” marked on the right grip and front cylinder
face. Assembly number 614 marked inside the loading gate. This revolver is pictured on page 15 of Don Wilkerson’s
“Colt Single Action Revolver Handbook 1955-1975”, a copy is included, showing where the triggerguard and backstrap are
serialized on second generation Single Action Army Revolvers. Includes a Colt black box numbered to another gun.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 98% plus original blue finish and case colors with minimal handling marks and cylinder drag lines. Mechanically excellent. Box is very good with repairs.

Matching serial numbers are found on the frame, triggerguard, backstrap and grip panels (sans suffix). The assembly number is marked on the front cylinder face and inside the loading gate. This revolver is pictured on page 97 of Don Wilkerson’s “Colt Single Action Revolver Handbook 1955-1975”,
a copy of which is included, and is noted as being part of shipment of revolvers with
interesting serial numbers that left the factory on September 24, 1958 on a loan account. The other Single Action Army in th
shipment was No. 222225 in .44 Special. Also included is the original black box for the revolver.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue finish and case colors with limited handling marks and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. Box is very good. Provenance: The Don and Carol Wilkerson Collection.
