DWM 1902 Luger Semi-Automatic Carbine with Shoulder Stock and Custom Case - Serial no. 24572, 7.65
mm Luger Auto cal., 11 3/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, hardwood stock, hardwood grips. The DWM Luger Carbine was
intended as a substitute for the light hunting rifles then available on the market, being highly compact when disassembled and light
and easy to maneuver when together. Reportedly Kaiser Wilhelm II favored the Luger Carbine for European medium-sized game, the compact weapon being easier to manage with the handicap of his weakened left arm. Ramp blade front and sliding rear sight graduated from 100 to 300 meters, with the early pattern recessed bolt and dished toggle knobs with toggle lock mechanism and “DWM” front toggle link. The small parts are finished in fine straw or niter blue colors, with a checkered Schnabel-tip forearm, nickel finished magazine with wood base, and a detachable stock with blued mounting iron, checkered wrist and serrated horn buttplate. The magazine is unnumbered but the other components are matching in a “commercial” numbering pattern, including the forearm wood, forearm mounting iron, the grip panels and the stock iron. Included with the lot is a fine modern custom hardwood case, with space for both the pistol and the stock and raised metal accents on the locking lid. CONDITION: Very fine, with 85% plus original blue finish, showing bright edge wear, the start of a mixed brown and gray patina on the gripstraps, and mild spotting and handling marks overall. The refinished straw colors on the small parts has faded slightly. Sharp checkering is present on the renumbered to match forearm and refinished stock, with professionally renumbered and refinished attaching iron, some minor dents on the grips. The custom case is fine. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 6,500 - 9,500
  Exceptional DWM Model
1906 Commercial Semi-Automatic Luger Pistol - Serial no.
35086, 7.65 mm Luger Auto cal., 4 3/4 inch round bbl., blue/
straw finish, walnut grips. This is an exceptional example of a DWM
Model 1906 commercial Luger. These early commercial Lugers were
made expressly for commercial sales through out the world, the United
States, Europe and South America to increase overseas sales by the DWM factory. These
early commercial Lugers have the best fit and finish with beautiful hand polish rust blued
finish on the metal parts with straw color on the smaller components with beautiful dark
European hand checkered walnut stock. These were probably some of the best of the Lugers
that the DWM factory ever produced for commercial sales. The model has the correct short
style frame and upper receiver with the 4 3/4 inch tapered barrel, grip safety, no stock lug with
a blank chamber area. Evidently, this pistol was produced early enough in the production cycle
that DWM had not started applying any of the standard commercial proofs such as the Crown over
the B, U, and G proof marks as
well as the commercial “N” proof
marks. The only markings on this
pistol are the full serial number
on the underside of the barrel
and the front of the frame with
“GERMANY” stamped below the
serial number. The left side of
the breechblock and toggle have
the partial serial number of “86”
stamped on them as does the takedown lever, side plate, trigger and grip safety. The back side of the left grip panel has been over stamped with a small cross and “43” and the right grip also has the small cross with the small letter “i”. The trigger, takedown lever, magazine release button and ejector are all straw colored. The pistol is fitted with a beautiful set of dark European checkered walnut grips. It is complete with a correct magazine that has a nickel-plated body with an unmarked wooden base.
CONDITION: Excellent overall with 99% of the original blued finish overall with just the hint of wear on the edges and high spots of the side plate hump, the edges of the trigger guard bow and the front of the frame rails. The straw colors are bright and retain 98% plus. The grips are also excellent. Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 4,500 - 6,500

Scarce DWM 1900
Commercial Semi-Automatic Luger
Pistol - Serial no. 5160, 7.65 mm Luger cal., 4 3/4 inch round
bbl., blue/straw colors finish, walnut checkered grips. This is an
excellent example of a desirable early-production DWM Model 1900
Commercial Luger pistol. These pistols were the true first commercial
contract Luger pistols produced by DWM and can be found in the
2000-19000 serial number range, with this specific pistol being an earlier production
pistol. These pistols were specifically intended for sales in the U.S. market, which is why
“GERMANY” is marked on the front of frame under the serial number. This pistol has all the
early desirable Luger features, such as the early long frame with the “Crown over B/U” proofs,
dished toggles with toggle lock on the right side, recessed breechblock, 4 3/4 inch fast tapered
barrel, grip safety and no stock lug. This specific pistol was fitted with the later and desirable
hold-open device. They had superb hand fitted parts with the pre-war high polish rust blue finish
with the straw colored small parts
and checkered walnut grips. The
lower safety area is unmarked
and left with the bright polished.
It is correctly serial numbered in
the commercial fashion with the
serial number under the barrel
and on the front of the frame.
It is complete with one original
magazine with the nickel plated body and the unnumbered wooden base.
CONDITION: Excellent with 90% plus of the original blue finish, with wear and blue loss on the edges and high spots overall with a small spot of pitting on the left side of the barrel with the blue finish on the grip straps
just starting to oxidize out. The various small parts retain 60% plus of their straw colors with most of the finish loss on the face of the trigger itself. The grips are also excellent with nice checkering on both grip panels and a small pressure dent on the right side directly behind the magazine release button. The pistol has all matching numbered parts with the firing pin and magazine both correctly unnumbered. A nice example of a scarce DWM 1900 Commercial Luger pistol.
Estimate: 4,000 - 6,000
