casehardened finish, walnut stock. Dating to circa 1880. Blued Damascus steel rifled
barrels with solid smooth rib signed ‘THOMAS HORSLEY & SON. YORK.” with bead front sight and
unmarked four leaf notched rear sight. Border engraved casehardened Jones patent rotary underlever action with non- rebounding back action locks signed “THOMAS HORSLEY & SONS”, engraved hammers, each with safety catch, and trigger guard

Antique D. Leonard & Son 12 Bore Rotary Underlever
Double Barrel Hammer Rifle - Serial no. 27586, 12 Bore cal., 24
inch round bbl., case/brown/blue finish, checkered walnut stock. With browned Damascus
steel barrels with fine matted rib with engraved doll’s head extension, rear sight of two folding leaves calibrated to 100 and 150 yards and each with platinum inlaid center line, and bead front sight insert. Casehardened Jones Patent rotary underlever action with sculpted fences and back action
rebounding locks each signed “D LEONARD & SON”. The underlever, trigger plate and guard, and grip cap also have a casehardened finish. The breech ends of the barrels, the action, locks and furniture engraved with
small scroll borders with floral engraved screwheads. The barrels and action are struck with Birmingham black powder proof marks. Figured walnut pistol grip stock with rubber recoil pad, checkered grip and forearm, the last with lever latch. The underside of the butt with silver
oval initial escutcheon engraved “TJM” and sling stud, the corresponding sling stud mounted beneath the barrels.
CONDITION: Very fine as refurbished with 95% of the brown finish remaining on the barrels with some pitting visible under the forend and a
small dovetailed filler on the rib. The action, locks, and underlever retain 90% of the bright casehardened finish with clear engraving. The forend shoe and lever shows some visible pitting. The wood is very fine with only minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent.

and border engraved steel buttplate.
CONDITION: Barrels retaining 75% older re-blued finish, faint Damascus twist pattern visible in rubbed areas, loss to finish through handling in period.
Signature very slightly softened. Light pitting in bores. Action and locks retaining slight traces of original casehardened finish in sheltered areas. Well figured stock, reoiled with some storage and handling marks throughout. Mechanically excellent.

Extremely Rare G. Jeffries, Norwich 12 Bore “1885 Patent” Double Barrel Sidelever Hammer Ejector Shotgun with Case - NSN, 12 gauge, 30 inch bbl., blue/

casehardened finish, walnut stock. Incorporating part of George Jeffries British Patent no. 7895 of June 30, 1885 for a self-cocking hammergun with ejector mechanism. George Jeffries was an innovative gunmaker who lived and worked in the East Anglian city of Norwich in Norfolk, England and is recorded as active from 1841 until around 1897. Blackened barrels with solid concave matted rib marked “ G. JEFFRIES NORWICH. JEFFRIES PATENT EJECTOR” and marked with a stylized “3” on the breech end, ejectors and single front bead. With London reproof marks and 2 1/2” chambers. Back action side lock self-cocking action with percussion fences, light scroll engraving and signed “G. JEFFRIES” on each lock and stylized “3” on the top tang. Blued sidelever and trigger guard, each with matching scroll engraving. Checkered rounded pistol grip stock with engraved furniture, blank silver initial escutcheon, and horn buttplate. The leather bound partitioned case has a George Jeffries leather label on the interior of the lid. CONDITION: Retaining nearly all of the reblued barrel finish. Action has a mottled silver and grey patina, sharp checkering and some light pitting. Sidelever and trigger guard reblued with softened engraving. Revarnished stock has refreshed sharp checkering with some light handling marks and several small cracks coming off the forend shoe as well as some light chipping. Mechanically very good with the right ejector having sheared the top pin, but appears to still be functional. The case is good with absent latch, latch mechanism and straps, wear and some missing stitching. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000
