Thunder Valley Machine Company 1883 Pattern Gatling Gun, with Tripod - Serial no. 1004, 45 , 32 inch part hexagon bbl., black enamel/bright finish, brass grips. Manufactured by Thunder Valley Machine Company, this is a factory quality reproduction of the Colt Model 1883, marked as being the fourth in a series of six made by TVM. A refinement of earlier Gatling designs, the 1883 is outfitted for the Accles drum, a powered loading mechanism that permitted a higher rate of fire than earlier gravity powered designs, serving as a link between earlier box/hopper fed repeaters and modern “chain gun” weapons. Constructed chiefly from brass, with steel side rails, barrels and internals, with a reproduction brass Colt plaque on top of the receiver, TVM markings on the right side rail, and a brass handled crank. The drum magazine has a brass outer jacket, with the inner workings constructed from micarta composite. The tripod is steel construction, with a brass yoke and integral elevation screw. CONDITION: Excellent overall. The steel components show 90% plus black enamel finish, with mild edge wear and handling marks overall, along with some minor spotting. The brass components are bright, with minor spotting. The tripod is good, with mild wear and oxidization, and an adjustment nut is absent from the elevation mechanism. Mechanically good. Estimate: 16,000 - 25,000

Unique and Historic 1888 Dated The Gatling Gun Limited Company Stock Certificate - NSN. Invented in 1861 by Richard Jordan Gatling, the “Gatling gun” was a massive leap forward
in firearms technology. Boasting a rate of fire of approximately 800-900 rounds per minute, the Gatling gun quickly became
a weapon that could dominate a 19th century battlefield.
This is a stock certificate that appears to be part of an initial public offering for The Gatling Gun Limited, a British company established to acquire the rights and facilities to
manufacture the Gatling gun in Britain and market
it to Europe and beyond. The certificate indicates
that the initial offering was for 80,000 shares at
£10 per share. It is made out to Maude Alice
Short and is for the purchase of 20
shares. The certificate is dated 1
November 1888, and is signed by
the secretary and directors of the
company. Also included is some
documentation pertaining to the
initial public offering of the company
and their prospectus.
CONDITION: Very fine, the stock certificate
shows minimal wear and some very light
fading, with clear markings overall. A very
interesting piece that would pair nicely with
a Gatling gun!
Estimate: 2,000 - 3,000
