Fine Civilian Colt Model 1860 Army Percussion Revolver - Serial no. 189284, 44 cal., 8 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened/ silver finish, walnut grips. This late production 1860 Army revolver was manufactured in 1870 and has the standard markings and features, including matching serial numbers (wedge blank). These revolvers remained in widespread use in the 1870s, including in the American West where a trustworthy sidearm was necessary due to ongoing conflicts with various Native American groups as well as bandits and gangs of outlaws on the prowl. The butt of the grip and the back strap are inscribed with the name Riley McGaughran and “4-1936.” A record setting former college athlete
  by that name nicknamed the “Pale Ghost” lost his leg after a motorcycle accident in September 1936 in Memphis, Tennessee. CONDITION: Fine with 70% of the vibrant
original case colors remaining on the frame, patches of original blue finish in the protected areas, aged patina on the brass, and smooth gray and brown patina on the balance. The grip is also fine and has most of the original varnish, minor lower edge wear, tiny chips at the toe, and some dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500

The ‘62 Police combines improvements the Model 1860 Army, such as the creeping loading lever, round barrel, and rebated cylinder with the smaller Model 1849 Pocket’s size while also offering more firepower per shot than Colt’s other pocket models. It is also significant as the last model released during Samuel Colt’s life. The revolver has the Hartford barrel address, patent date on a cylinder flute, “COLTS/ PATENT” frame marking, and matching serial number on the butt, trigger guard, frame, barrel, cylinder, wedge, and arbor pin. CONDITION: Very good plus. The revolver has a mottled gray patina
associated with a well traveled Civil War era working gun with generous amounts of original blue finish on the barrel underside, 30% original blue finish on the cylinder, 30% of the original case colors remain on the
hammer and frame, and 60% age darkened original silver plating on the back strap. The fine grip also shows working gun character. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750

Scarce Four-Screw Variant Civil War Era Colt Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver - Serial no. 128046, 36 cal., 7 1/2 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened/silver finish, walnut grips. This revolver was manufactured in 1862, and is cut for a shoulder stock (not included) on the recoil shield and heel. The barrel has a brass cone front sight and the one-line New York address. The left side of the frame is marked “COLTS/PATENT.” The left side of the trigger guard has a “2” at the front and “36 CAL” on the rear. “2” is also marked by the serial numbers on the trigger guard and back strap. Matching serial numbers are marked on the wedge, arbor pin, cylinder, barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap. The replacement loading lever is numbered “5145.” CONDITION: Very good with patches of original finish in the protected areas, dark aged patina on the silver around the trigger guard bow, aged patina on the brass, gray and brown patina on the balance, and general moderate wear, including oxidation and pitting. The grip is fine and has mild handling and edge wear, light scratches and dings, and over half of the “piano” finish remaining. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500

Desirable “Wells Fargo Model” Colt Model 1849 Pocket Percussion Revolver - Serial no. 163878, 31 cal., 3 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened/silver finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1860. This is a scarce Model 1849 Pocket Model “Wells Fargo” variation with a three inch barrel without provisions for a loading lever, a solid lug without loading slots, and otherwise standard Model 1849 markings and features including matching visible serial numbers on the frame, trigger guard, butt, arbor pin, cylinder, and wedge. CONDITION: Very good, retains faint traces of the original case colors and 40% of the original silver plating with the balance either a smooth grey patina or an attractive lightly aged brass and a few scattered areas of light pitting. The grip is very fine with some scattered light handling marks and some light wear near the bottoms. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 2,250 - 3,500
LOT 191 Colt London Model 1851 Navy Percussion Revolver - Serial no. 35918, 36 cal., 7 1/2 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut grips. This classic Colt ‘51 Navy was manufactured in 1855 at Colt’s short lived London factory and features a brass cone front sight, “-ADDRESS COL. COLT LONDON.-” on the top of the barrel, “COLTS/PATENT” on the left side of the frame, and London proofs on the barrel lug and between the nipples on the cylinder. Matching numbers are present on the wedge, arbor pin, cylinder, loading lever, barrel, frame, and grip straps. CONDITION: Very good with traces of original finish and otherwise dark gray and brown patina, patches of mild oxidation, and general moderate overall wear. The markings and most of the cylinder scene remain legible. The grip is fine and has moderate lower edge wear, most of the original finish remaining, and some scratches and dings. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 1,500 - 2,250
