Attractive Ben Lane Signed Engraved Antique Colt First Generation Single Action Army Revolver with Factory Letter - Serial no. 164128, 32 WCF cal., 4 3/4 inch
round bbl., nickel finish, antique ivory grips. Originally manufactured in 1896, this Single Action Army revolver has subsequently been beautifully custom embellished by Master Engraver Ben Lane, whose signature “BGL” is marked on the front of the frame. The standard two-
line address is marked on top of the barrel and the caliber marking is on the left. The two-line patent marking followed by the circled Rampant Colt on the frame. The revolver also shows 75% coverage, masterfully executed, traditional Cuno Helfricht style floral scroll engraving. The screws,
cylinder pin, and trigger are finished in nitre blue. It has standard features and has been fitted with a
pair of smooth grips. The included factory letter confirms the caliber and barrel length, and listing the
finish as blue when shipped to Simmons Hardware Co. in St. Louis on 5 February 1896.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally embellished by Master Engraver Ben Lane, retains 99% plus of
the nickel and nitre blue finishes with minimal wear and crisp engraving. The grips are also very fine
with minimal handling evidence and some hairline age cracks on the butt of each panel. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,000 - 6,000

Cattle Brand Engraved, Gold Third Generation Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Scrimshaw -
Serial no. SA62199, 44 special cal., 7 1/2 inch round bbl., gold finish, smooth grips. Manufactured in 1982 and subsequently fully custom engraved in the traditional Texas cattle brand pattern pioneered by Cole Agee and carried on by Weldon Bledsoe. The cattle brand pattern developed in the 1940/50s and depicted the
more prominent and historic Texas cattle brands used in the 1880s and early 1900s. The revolver has near
full coverage engraving in the typical western style with the recognizable “2 Lazy 2 (sideways) P” as well as many other famous Texas brands, all on a punch dot background. There are standard Colt markings including matching serial numbers on on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. The gold Rampant Colt medallion grips feature scrimshaw scrollwork on cross hatching background.
CONDITION: Very fine as professionally cattle brand engraved, retaining 98% of the gold finish with some oxidation on the muzzle. The engraving is crisp. The grips are very fine with surface chip near the bottom (right panel) and attractive color. Mechanically excellent.
