Presentation Cased Factory Engraved Colt Etched Panel
New Line .30 Spur Trigger Revolver with Rare 1 3/4 Inch Barrel and Pearl Grips - Serial no. 2223, 30 RF cal., 1 3/4 inch round bbl., nickel finish, pearl grips. Manufactured in 1875, with the top of the desirable 1 3/4 inch barrel marked with the standard two-line address and the desirable “COLT NEW 30” etched panel on the left. About half of the revolver is covered in factory style floral scroll engraving. The matching serial number is marked on the butt, bottom of the barrel, and rear of the cylinder, and is mistakenly marked “2823” inside each grip. Includes a beautiful and rare American rosewood case with inspcription plaque , key, cleaning rod, and a cartridge block full of .30 RF cartridges. CONDITION: Excellent, retains 95% plus of the untouched original nickel finish with some scattered light spotting/flaking and crisp engraving overall. The grips are also very fine with a minor chip in the right panel and otherwise only the slightest handling marks. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine with a few scattered patches of flaked varnish and otherwise minimal wear. Provenance: The George S. Lewis Jr. Collection. Estimate: 6,500 - 9,500
