Exceptional Factory Engraved Colt Open Top Pocket Spur Trigger Revolver with Highly Desirable
Wexell & DeGress Grips and Factory Box - Serial no. 75219, 22 RF cal., 2 3/8 inch round
bbl., nickel finish, silver grips. Manufactured
in 1875, the top of the barrel is marked with the standard Colt two-line address flanked by Maltese crosses while the left of the frame is marked “22 CAL”. The frame, barrel, and cylinder
have flourishes of floral scroll and zig-zag line engraving. The full serial number is marked on the butt and bottom of the barrel lug. It is fitted with a very attractive pair of Wexell & DeGress silver grips with floral
motifs on the left along with the 1874 patent marking, and a lion motif
on the right. Includes a scarce factory box marked for “COLT’S/SEVEN SHOT
PISTOL” and “NICKEL PLATED/FULL ENGRAVED” end label.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 90% plus of the original nickel finish with a few scattered patches of light spotting and crisp engraving. The grips are excellent retaining most of the original silver finish with some light high spot wear. Mechanically excellent. The box is good with some moderate wear. Provenance: The George S. Excellent Factory Engraved Colt New Line .22 Etched Panel Revolver with Factory Box - Serial no. 41564, 22 RF cal., 2 1/4 inch slab sided bbl., nickel
finish, hard rubber grips. Manufactured in 1876,
the top of the barrel marked with the standard two-line Colt address, patent marking on the bottom, and the left of the barrel with the desirable etched panel marked “COLT NEW 22”. The left of the frame has the caliber marking and the serial number is marked on the butt. The frame, cylinder, and barrel have a factory floral scroll and zig-zag line engraving. It is fitted with a pair of checkered hard rubber grips. Includes a scarce factory Colt pasteboard box with pink label marked for “COLT’S/New Seven Shot Revolver” and a cleaning rod/screwdriver. CONDITION: Excellent, retains 97% plus of the original nickel finish with some of the attractively aged brass of the frame. The acid etched panel remains sharp and crisp. The grips are excellent with a few scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very fine with some mild handling/storage wear. Provenance: The George S.
