Rare Short Barreled First Year Production Colt House
Model Cloverleaf Pocket Spur Trigger Revolver - Serial no.
2791, 41 RF cal., 1 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, rosewood
grips. Manufactured in 1871, this is an example of a desirable, short, 1
1/2 inch barrel version of the Colt “Cloverleaf” revolver. The left side of
the barrel is marked “COLT”, which is slightly double-stamped, and the
matching serial number is marked on the butt, bottom of the barrel, and in ink on the
inside of each grip panel. It has standard features including an ejector
and a pair of smooth, bird’s head, rosewood grips.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 80% of the untouched original nickel
finish, mostly showing a slightly frosted appearance, and the balance
having thinned to a smooth dark brown patina. The grips are fine
with some mild wear and light handling marks scattered throughout.
Mechanically excellent.

Attractive F.T. Baker London Retailer Inscribed
Colt Third Model “Thuer” Derringer - Serial no.
5900, 41 RF cal., 2 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, antique ivory
grips. These derringers were introduced in 1870, with this example
being early production with the high profile hammer. The top of the barrel has a
rounded blade front sight and “COLT” in large italic letters and the bottom of the
barrel has small British proofs. The left of the frame is marked with a “C” and Rampant
Colt. The back strap is retailer inscribed “F.T. Baker. 88. Fleet. St. London”. It is fitted with a pair of factory matching number smooth antique ivory grips that are each hand numbered “5900” on the inside in ink.
CONDITION: Excellent, retains 97% plus of the original n
noticeable patch of very light flaking on the left of the
barrel and a series of minor scratches in the same
area. The grips are also excellent with a few scattered
light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.

Serial no. 6303, 41 RF cal.,
2 1/2 inch irregular bbl.,
blue/silver finish, walnut
grips. Manufactured from
1870-1890 with factory
engraved flourishes of
floral scroll on both sides
of the frame. There are
British proofs on the
bottom of the barrel, and
matching serial numbers
on the bottom of the
barrel and butt. It is fitted
with checkered grips that
are both hand numbered
to the gun in ink on the
inside. Includes a custom
fitted hardwood case, four .41 RF
cartridges, and a key.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 60% of the
original blue finish on the barrel, numerous dents on the bottom, the
balance a speckled brown patina, and traces of the aged original silver finish in sheltered areas
with the balance a smooth grey patina, a few scattered patches of light pitting, and crisp engraving. The grips are very fine with a few scattered light handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with some scattered minor handling/storage marks.

Fine Factory Engraved Colt First Model Derringer
- Serial no. 4279, 41 RF cal., 2 1/2 inch irregular bbl.,
nickel/silver finish, metal grips. Manufactured circa
1870-1890. Blade front and hammer notch rear
sights, with the top of the barrel marked “COLT’S
PT.F.A. MFG. Co/HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.” followed by “ No1” flanked by Maltese
crosses and the matching serial number on the underside. Light scroll engraving
on the sides of the frame with a burst design ahead of the hammer and scrollwork behind. There is a small “C” present on the underside of the frame just ahead of the trigger. The matching serial number
is on the butt of the grip and the
bottom of the barrel.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 97% plus of
the original nickel finish on the barrel,
with strong traces of aged silver on the frame and vibrant
case colors on the hammer, and the balance a smooth grey patina speckled with brown. The engraving and grip checkering are crisp. Mechanically excellent.

Desirable Documented Factory Engraved
Colt Open Top Pocket Spur Trigger Revolver with Factory
Letter - Serial no. 77561, 22 RF cal., 2 3/8 inch round bbl., silver
finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1875, the two-line Colt address is
marked on top of the barrel flanked by Maltese crosses. It has factory engraving
executed by Cuno Helfricht’s shop which features flourishes of floral scroll on
the side of the barrel, the cylinder, and sides of the frame, as well as a geometric
pattern on the back strap. The matching serial number is on the butt, bottom of
the barrel lug, and hand marked inside each grip panel. The included factory letter
confirms the current configuration including the silver plating and engraving, grips
not listed, and shipment to B. Kittredge & Co. in Cincinnati, Ohio, on 11 September,
1875.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 30% of the original silver plating, most prevalent on the cylinder, and showing an attractively aged patina, with the balance a smooth grey patina or aged mellow brass. The grips are very fine with a few scattered light handling marks and retaining almost all of the varnish. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500

Colt Spur Trigger Pocket Revolvers with
Wexell & DeGress Patent Marked Grips -A) Colt Open
Top Pocket Model Revolver - Serial no. 61911, 22 RF cal., 3 2/8
inch round bbl., nickel finish, brass grips. Manufactured from
1871-1877. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address flanked
by Maltese crosses. The left of the frame is marked “22 CAL”. The period retailer
engraving features flourishes of floral scroll on the sides of the frame and a
diamond and clover pattern on the cylinder.
It is fitted with an attractive pair of Wexell &
DeGress style grips marked “PAT APR 28.74”
at the top of the left, floral motifs throughout,
and a lion’s head on the right. Includes a hardwood case that
holds both revolvers and a bore brush.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 75% plus of the period retailer applied engraving
and nickel finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina
and few scattered patches of light pitting. The grips are also fine showing an
attractively aged patina. Mechanically fine. The case is fine with one of the hinges
detached from the lid and generally light wear and handling marks.
B) Colt New Line .22 Revolver - Serial no. 4211, 22 RF cal., 2 1/4 inch slab sided bbl., nickel finish,
brass grips. Manufactured in 1873. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address, with “22
CAL” on the left of the frame. The revolver has 50% plus coverage period retailer floral scroll engraving. It is fitted with a pair of attractive gilt brass Wexell & DeGress style grips, the left marked with the 1874 patent date and featuring floral motifs and a horse head on the right panel.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 30% of the period retailer applied engraving and nickel finish with the balance having thinned to mostly an attractively aged brass. The grips are fine and retains 50% plus of the gilt finish with the balance a similarly aged brass. Mechanically excellent.
