Manufactured in 1917, with the standard two-line address/patent date and caliber markings on top of the slide. It has standard features

the center. This pistol is pictured and
described on p. 79 of “Savage Pistols”
by Bailey Brower Jr. where is described

rare “dull blue” finish that was only applied briefly before the
switch over to paint. Includes a rare correct Savage factory

Consecutively
Serialized Pair
of Savage Model
1907 Semi-
Automatic Pistols -A) Savage Model
1907 Pistol - Serial no. 106661, 32 ACP cal.,
3 3/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, hard rubber grips. Manufactured 1913-1917, with the standard two-line address, patent date, and caliber markings on top of the slide. The Savage
trademark is marked on the left of
the frame. It has standard features
including a pair of checkered hard
rubber grips with Savage logos at
the center. This pistol is consecutively
serialized to “B”. An included factory
letter which does not list this pistol by serial number discusses that the lowest serial number Model 1907 that Roe Clark could find in the ledgers listed as shipped to
Canada was number
158180, potentially
making the “B” gun
in this lot one of the
lowest numbered Canadian proofed pistols known.
CONDITION: Very good, retains 30% of the original blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina. The grips are very good with a few scattered minor
handling marks and crisp checkering.
Mechanically excellent. B) Very
Scarce Canadian Broad Arrow
Proofed Savage Model 1907
Pistol with Factory Letter - Serial
no. 106662, 32 ACP cal., 3 3/4 inch
round bbl., blue finish, hard rubber
grips. Manufactured c. 1913-1915, this pistol is marked in the same fashion as a reported 500 Savage Model 1907 pistols sold under contract to the Canadian government. A similar example to this
one is pictured on p. 147 of “Savage Pistols” by Bailey Brower, Jr., where it is stated that these pistols were purchased by the Canadian government under contract for military or police use. It has the standard two-line address, patent date, and caliber marking on top of the slide, the “SAVAGE” trademark on the left of the frame, and the large broad arrow within a “C” Canadian acceptance mark on the right of the frame. It has standard features and is fitted with a pair
of checkered hard rubber grips with Savage logos at the
center. The included factory letter lists an acceptance date
of 10 July, 1914, and says that in the same bracket are some
pistols listed as shipped to France on 18 November, 1914.
It goes on to state that there is no factory record of this
pistol ever shipping. In the letter, Roe Clark theorizes that
this pistol may have been shipped to Canada as a sample or
that the Canadian government acquired it through regular
commercial channels. It is consecutively serialized to “A”,
which does not bear the Canadian proof.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 75% plus of the original
blue finish with the balance having thinned to mostly a
smooth grey patina. The grips are also very fine with a few
scattered minor blemishes and otherwise crisp checkering.
Mechanically excellent.
