Scarce Documented Portuguese Navy Contract DWM Model 1906 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 389, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. This Model 1906 DWM Luger was manufactured for the Portuguese Navy as part of the second contract of 300 units ordered just after the fall of Manuel II in October 1910. These second contract guns, found in the 351-650 serial range, feature markings on
op of the chamber consisting of “R.P.” (Republic of Portugal) above a fouled naval anchor, differing from the previous first contract guns in the 1-350 serial number range that have a large Portuguese Royal Navy crown over a single fouled naval
anchor made this way prior to the fall of Manuel II. Reference pages 521-523 of Gortz and Sturgess’“Pistole Parabellum Volume II” for information on these Portuguese Navy pistols, with pictures of this exact pistol, serial number 389, featured at

DWM Model 1920
American Eagle Commercial Luger
Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 5179l, 9 mm cal., 5 7/8 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. This is an example of a post-
World War I Luger made at the factory using some leftover military
parts with intent for sale to the United States commercial market.
Although it is not marked as such, it was probably imported by one of the
early importers like the Stoeger Arms Company or Abercrombie & Fitch. The chamber
area has the distinctive American Eagle crest with the DWM logo on the front toggle,
“MADE IN GERMANY” marked on the right of the barrel extension, and “crown/N” proofs
on the left of the barrel extension and left of the breech block. It is fitted with a 5 7/8 inch
barrel chambered in 9 mm. The safety and extractor retain their original German markings of
“GESICHERT” and “GELADEN”. Matching serial numbers visible on most of the components with
the breech block non-matching numbered “54”, and an unnumbered front toggle, safety lever
and grip panels. It comes with one
nickel plated magazine with walnut base
stamped “9 m/m.”
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85%
factory refinished blue finish with
smooth gray and brown patina on the
balance and a few small patches of mild
pitting on the top rear of the upper
receiver, and 70% straw finish on the
small parts. The grips are fine with numerous light dings and a few small chips at the corners. The hold open occasionally does not properly function, otherwise mechanically fine.
