“The Winchester Model 42”, it appears that less than 61 total guns in this configuration (Skeet Grade, 28 inch solid rib barrel, and 2 1/2 inch chambers) were produced by Winchester. Stock measurements are:
drop at comb 1 5/8 inches; drop at heel 2 3/8 inches; length of pull 13 1/2 inches. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 95% plus original blue finish with mild slide retraction wear and light handling marks. Crisp checkering on the excellent stock. Mechanically excellent. barrel with dual bead sights on the matted vent rib, 3 3/4 inch wedges of floral scroll engraving on either side of the rib at the breech, 2 3/4 inch chamber,
and choke measured full. The blued receiver displays highly attractive Remington
F Grade engraving with extensive scroll engraving on a matted background surrounding a mallard, two pointers, and a woodcock in three
panels on the left and a grouse, two setters, and a quail on the right in three panels. The trigger guard also shows the bust of a setter in profile set amongst the scroll. The piece is signed below the pointers on the left side “JHC”. Exhibition quality, multi-point checkered forend and Monte Carlo pistol grip stock with Remington grip cap, blank gold inscription oval, and Pachmayr White Line recoil pad. Stock measurements: 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 1 3/4 inch drop at heel; 14 3/8 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs. 14 oz. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% original blue finish with minor handling evidence, an area of clear residue on the left of the stock, and sharp checkering on the wood. Factory Engraved Remington Autoloading D Grade Semi-Automatic Shotgun - Serial no. 92498, 12 gauge, 28 inch vent rib bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Blued barrel with single brass bead on the matted vent rib, standard markings, and choke marked full. The receiver displays highly attractive broad leafy scroll engraving with central diamond patterns flanked by smaller panels of matching scroll, scrollwork on the upper and lower tangs, and hand cut serial number on the underside. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered forend and highly figured round knob pistol grip stock with inscription oval marked with a three letter monogram over “1907” and a replacement Hawkins rubber recoil pad. Stock
measurements: 1 3/4 inch drop at comb; 2 9/16 inch drop at heel; 14 7/8 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 12 oz. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 97% plus original blue finish with minor handling evidence, a few light dings and scratches in the wood, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend.
