Brian Kaufman Signed and Engraved Shiloh-Sharps Model 1874 Single Shot Rifle with Extra Barrel - Serial no. 8916, 40-50 Bottleneck cal., 28 inch octagon bbl., blue/French grey finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in Big Timber, Montana. The barrel is fitted with brass bead in blade front sight and semi-buckhorn folding ladder rear sights with “CALIBRE 40” marked on the
chamber. The top barrel flat is marked “T.R. Girodat,”
after one of the artisans who professionally worked on the
rifle. The receiver is floral engraved and bordered, with an antelope on
the left cheek and buffalo on the right side, with the engraver Brian Kaufman’s initials
“B.R.K.” marked on the tang just a head of the trigger. Import marked. Fitted with checkered walnut Schnabel tip forend and straight grip stock with checkered steel buttplate. Includes a spare 30 inch heavy octagon
barrel, with fitted Schnabel forend (rear attachment screw absent), chambered for .45-70 Gov’t. CONDITION: Excellent overall as
professionally embellished by Brian Kaufman, retaining 99% plus of the original blue finish with
light handling marks, attractive antiqued receiver,
 and crisp forend and stock checkering. The extra barrel is excellent. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Wayne Connor Collection. Estimate: 6,500 - 8,000

Desirable Ballard Rifle & Cartridge Co. No. 7 Long Range Falling Block
Single Shot Rifle - Serial no. C758, 40-65 cal., 34 inch round bbl., blue/
casehardened finish, walnut stock. The left side of the receiver is marked with the
three-line Ballard Rifle & Cartridge Co. Cody, Wyoming, address and Ballard patent date. The caliber marking is on the top flat of the barrel at the breech. The serial number is on the bottom
of the receiver. It is fitted with a spirit level globe front sight, no rear sight dovetail, three short flat ribs on the barrel at the breech, and a long range peep sight mounted on the upper tang. It is mounted with a finely figured, checkered, Schnabel tip forearm with dark horn tip and a checkered pistol
grip stock with a checkered shotgun buttplate. Includes a small case of brass casings with .45-70 headstamps (likely sized down to .40-65). CONDITION: Excellent, retains 99% plus of the original blue and casehardened finishes with a few scattered very light handling marks. The wood is also excellent with only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
