and Gold Inlaid Krieghoff Mauser Style Bolt
Action Buffalo Rifle with Case - Serial no. 10736, 30-06
Springfield cal., 24 inch solid rib bbl., blue finish, walnut stock.
Based off a Mauser 98 style action, featuring a ramped German silver
fixed blade front sight, three folding leaf rear sights (graduated from 100 to 300)
on the matted solid rib, and a fully adjustable Lyman rear peep fitted to the bolt takedown lever (stock inletted). The barrel is marked “KRIEGHOFF BUFFALO RIFLE CAL. 30/06” on the right with “B.H. DYAS CO. LOS ANGELES, CAL.” and “crown Stm.G” on the right, along with “KRUPP-FLUIDSTEEL” around the chamber. The receiver, magazine floor plate, trigger guard, buttplate, and grip cap feature floral scroll engraving, and the name “W.K. VANDERBILT JR.” is gold inlaid along the border of the grip cap. Fitted with a multi-point checkered walnut stock with ebony tip, cheek rest, and butt trap. Includes leather and green canvas topped carry case marked “W. K.
VANDERBILT JR” with “H. Kreighoff” marked leather label on the inside. The rifle and case are attributed to William Kissam Vanderbilt II, a member of the prominent Vanderbilt family who lived from 1878 to 1944 and was known as an avid motor sport, yacht, and horse racing enthusiast.
CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 95% plus of the blue finish with some minor handling marks, edge wear, and crisp checkering on the stock. The engraving is crisp. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good with a missing handle strap.

Griffin & Howe Custom Springfield Model 1903 Bolt Action Sporting Rifle - Serial no. 449, 30-06 Springfield cal., 21 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Originally built as a Springfield Model 1903 rifle and subsequently upgraded to current configuration by Griffin & Howe in New York. This rifle features a medium weight barrel marked “No 449 Griffin & Howe, Inc. New York” on top and “30/06 Gov.” on the chamber with a ramped beaded blade front sight. The front receiver ring is matted with the markings removed, and the rear ring is fitted with an adjustable Lyman peep sight. Mounted in a checkered walnut Schnabel tip pistol grip stock with horn grip cap, shadow line cheekpiece, two
sling swivels, and a Pachmayr Old English recoil pad.
CONDITION: Very fine as custom upgraded by Griffin & Howe, retaining 90% plus blue finish with
some minor rubbing on the bolt, minor handling evidence, some light edge wear on the stock, and
sharp checkering on the stock. Mechanically excellent.
