Arnold Griebel Signed Master Engraved Gold Inlaid Winchester Model 52C Bolt Action Sporting Rifle with Case - Serial no. 97113C, 22 LR cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1957 and subsequently masterfully relief engraved and gold inlaid. The receiver is engraved with floral vine patterns and a round panel on each side of the rear and a round panel on top of the front receiver ring, each depicting an animal scene. The top of
the breech end of the barrel is also engraved with the same pattern and a round panel with a quail in a wooded scene. The bolt handle has a oak leaf pattern and fine checkering on the ball of the handle, and the trigger guard and plate
are engraved with floral scroll patterns and animal scenes.
4 1/4 inches ahead of the breech are two gold inlaid relief engraved snakes. at the muzzle there are three gold inlaid relief engraved rabbits, and there are 3 gold inlaid wire bands around the muzzle. Above the standard left rear barrel markings is signed “ENGR. BY A. GRIEBEL”. The standard receiver markings remain. Hooded ramped front blade
sight and receiver mounted Lyman peep sight without the stock cutout. Mounted with a one piece checkered walnut pistol grip stock with contrasting forend, engraved metal grip cap, cheekpiece, checkered plastic buttplate and sling swivel bases. Fitted in a custom leather bound case, with blue felt interior and label marked “Winchester Model 52C Sporter/Winchester logo/New Haven, Connecticut. There are 7 compartments, 2 screw drivers, cleaning rod, oiler and a leather sling.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as master embellished by Arnold Griebel with 99% blue finish remaining, showing only light handling marks on the metal surfaces. All of the gold inlay remains. The stock is also exceptionally fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches and very crisp checkering. The markings and engraving are sharp and clear. Mechanically excellent. The case is very good.
