Special Order Winchester Deluxe Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle with 30 Inch Extra Length Barrel - Serial no. 99581, 40-82 WCF cal., 30 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This deluxe variation of the Winchester Model 1886 rifle was manufactured in 1895 and displays several desirable special order features such as the double set trigger and 30 inch extra length barrel. Standard barrel length for this model was 26 inches. The rifle is fitted with a dovetail blade front sight, an elevation adjustable rear sight, and a folding tang peep sight. The top barrel flat has the two-line Winchester address ahead of the rear sight and “40-82 W.C.F.” at the breech. The lower tang has the two-line patent dates marking and the serial number. The deluxe “XX” walnut forearm and pistol grip stock feature “H” style checkering. The pistol grip stock features an ebony grip insert and is fitted with a solid crescent buttplate. The left side of the lower tang is marked “584 XX.” The assembly number “584” is repeated on the stock inlet and buttplate. CONDITION: Very good. The barrel and magazine retain traces of refinished blue finish with an artificial brown patina on the balance. The frame has a well traveled gray appearance mixed with traces of silvered out original case colors. The refinished, recheckered wood is also very good with some minor handling marks, smooth forearm checkering, and overall crisp pistol grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 5,500 - 8,500
LOT 1064 Winchester Model 1886 Lightweight Takedown Lever Action Rifle - Serial no. 135159, 33 WCF cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1904 with Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The barrel is marked with the two-line address/patent dates, two-line nickel steel marking, and caliber marking. The three-line model and trademark information is on the upper tang, and the serial number is on the lower tang. It is fitted with a Marble No. 50 beaded blade front sight and an elevation adjustable notch rear sight. It is mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 80% original blue finish with thinning and high edge wear on the balance. The takedown collar is a mix of original
blue finish and smooth gray patina. 60% of original case colors remain on the lever and buttplate, and the hammer retains 95% original case colors. Traces of original nitre blue remain on the
loading gate. The wood is fine with minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 5,500 - 8,500

walnut forearm with steel forend cap and straight grip stock with a steel crescent buttplate. CONDITION: Fine. The barrel and magazine retain 40% of the blue finish with some areas of mottled brown patina. The frame, hammer, and lever retain 30% of the case colors with some scattered scratches, dings, and some mild pitting overall. The steel forend cap and buttplate has some minor speckling. The revarnished wood is also fair some scattered scratches and dings. Mechanically fine. Estimate: 3,500 - 4,750

Documented Antique Special Order Winchester Second Model 1873 Lever Action Rifle with Factory Letter - Serial no. 30524, 44 WCF cal., 24 inch part octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1878 as a Second Model, with dust cover guide retained with two screws and checkered “thumb print” dust cover. The included factory letter confirms the special order half octagon barrel, half magazine, and set trigger, as well as receipt at the warehouse on 20 August 1878 and shipment the following day in order number 12718. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address/King’s patent marking, and it correctly lacks a caliber marking. The upper tang has the model marking, and
 the serial number is on the lower tang. The left side of the lower tang has the assembly number “1343”, which is repeated
in the stock mortise and inside the buttplate. It is fitted with a German silver blade front sight and elevation adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight. It is mounted with a faintly figured smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a trapdoor crescent buttplate (cleaning rod not included) and six “kill”
notches carved immediately behind the lower tang. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 75% of the original blue finish, 50% of the original case colors, and 60%
plus of the original nitre blue on the loading gate with the balance having thinned to a smooth grey
patina. The wood is also very fine with the carved marks mentioned above along with some scattered light handling
marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 4,500 - 6,500

Documented Antique Winchester Model 1886 Lever Action Rifle .45-70 with Factory Letter - Serial no. 68046, 45-70 cal., 26 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1892. The included factory letter confirms the rifle configuration and that it was received in the warehouse on August 2, 1892, and shipped on August 4, 1892, with order number 3054. The top barrel flat has the two-line address ahead of the rear sight and “45-70” at the breech. The upper tang is marked “-MODEL 1886-”, and the two patent dates are marked on the lower tang behind the trigger with the serial number at the end.
