Rare and Excellent Special Order Marlin Model 94 Lever Action Short
Rifle in .44-40 WCF with 16 Inch Barrel - Serial no. 322645, 44-40 cal., 16 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Offered here is a very rare and excellent example of Marlin’s famed Model 94 with a special order factory short barrel of 16 inches. The standard rifle barrel for this model was 24 inches. For collectors 16 inches is a very desirable short barrel length as there is no need for ATF exemption! These 16 inch Model 94 rifles are rare as Marlin customers were generally not inclined to spend extra money on a special order short barrel, especially when the model was offered in a standard 20 inch carbine. It is also chambered in the desirable .44-40 WCF caliber. The rifle was manufactured
in 1905. It features rifle type sights (German silver blade front and elevation adjustable rear) and rifle type forearm. The top of the barrel is stamped with the two-line Marlin legend ahead of the rear sight and the caliber designation “44 40” at the breech. The receiver is casehardened. The upper tang is stamped “MARLIN/ MODEL ‘94.” The underside of the receiver has the serial number. Mounted with a plain varnished walnut forearm and straight grip stock.
