LOT 3410
Pre-World War II Walther Model PP Semi-Automatic Pistol Factory Inscribed
to a German Peasant’s Ski Outing with Holster - Serial no. 987175, 7.65 mm auto
cal., 3 7/8 inch round bbl., blue finish, plastic grips. Fitted with fixed sights, a 60 degree safety, checkered grips and
a flat-base magazine. This “Crown/N” pre-1933 proofed pistol is inscribed on the top left side of the slide “Gestiftet v.d. Landes-Bauernschaft Thur. (Forstabteilung) Skitreffen Oberhof am 13.2.38”, marking it as having been donated
by the forest branch of the
peasant’s association of
Thuringia to commemorate
a ski rendezvous at Oberhof.
Located in Thuringia, Oberhof
has been a major center of
German winter sports from the
Imperial era to the modern day, and
though no specific information has
been uncovered regarding the pistol,
it would not be out of character for an inscribed Walther to be presented to a winner of a sports competition or a high-profile visitor to the rendezvous. Included with the pistol is a “Walther PP” ink stamped brown
leather flap holster.
CONDITION: Very fine with 85% plus of the original blue finish. The edges are turning a smooth, bright gray patina, particularly at the leading corners of the slide, with a small amount of spotting and brown patina on the grip straps and a few minor handling marks overall. The grips are also very fine with a few tiny dings on the sharp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The holster is excellent.
Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500
LOT 3411
World War II
German Walther Third Issue Zero Series
P.38 Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 07989,
9 mm Luger cal., 5 inch round bbl., blue finish,
plastic grips. Part of the initial run of Walther’s military
P.38s, the Zero Series served to “fine tune” the Walther HP
to Wehrmacht specifications and was an important stage
in the pistol’s development. These Zero Series pistols are
very scarce compared to standard production P.38 pistols and
have become extremely popular among collectors due to how they illustrate the important changes made during production of the model. This particular example is
a third variant of that series. It is fitted with fixed sights, a round firing pin, a serrated takedown lever, and an exposed extractor. The slide is marked with the Walther banner and “P.38” on the left, with “eagle/359” proofs on various components, matching full serial number marked on the slide, frame, barrel and magazine, and matching partial numbers on the locking block and inside the
grips. Cole Distributing import markings on
both sides of the frame.
CONDITION: Very good, retains 98% arsenal
refinished blue finish with some patches of
light pitting visible underneath the finish. The
later production replacement grips are fine
with some light scratches and handling marks.
Mechanically excellent.
Estimate: 1,500 - 2,250

LOT 3413
Desirable Pre-World
War II German Walther
PPK Semi-Automatic
Pistol with RZM Markings
and Leather Holster - Serial
no. 820477, 7.65 mm auto
cal., 3 1/4 inch round bbl.,
blue finish, brown plastic
checkered grips. This is a
very fine Walther PPK pistol
with the high desirable/
scarce “RZM” markings
on the slide. The Reichs
Zeugmeisterei (RZM) served
as the quartermasters office
of the National Socialists party
(NSDAP) and later became the
chief approving authority on
some types of military weapons,
clothing, textiles and some raw
materials for the Third Reich. The
“RZM” markings on Walther pistols were used on a periodic basis and are found in several serial numbers ranges
with the earliest block of numbers being approximately 803,638-844,468, with this example being right in the
middle of that block. It has the standard Walther factory slide markings on the left side followed by the circled
“RZM” markings. The right side of the pistol has the early “Crown/N” commercial proofs on the barrel, chamber
area and slide. The inside of the slide is correctly numbered “477” to match the frame. It has the 90 degree safety
and checkered streaked brown plastic with the “WALTHER” inside a banner on each side of the grip. This pistol is
fitted with a standard blued Walther marked magazine with the very scarce large brown plastic finger rest base
plate. It is accompanied by an original World War II, unmarked German Walther PPK leather holster.
CONDITION: Excellent with 90% of the original blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear overall. The grips
are also very fine with a nice color overall with clear sharp checkering and markings. The base of the magazine
shows considerable chipping around the upper rear edge of the base, which was a common problem with these larger bases. Mechanically excellent. The holster is in fine condition with a nice light brown color overall with
tight stitching, with the belt loop on the back being a correctly sewn field replacement. 265 Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750
