Winchester Deluxe Style Model 1885 High Wall Single Shot Rifle in .22 L.R. with High School Marksmanship Competition Inscription - Serial no. 117954, 22 LR
cal., 29 7/8 inch octagon bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Receiver manufactured in 1916, with a Winchester factory oval proof on the receiver ring. The right side of the receiver is inscribed “WILLARD PRIZE/HIGH SCORE/RIFLE SHOOTING/ RIDGEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL/1915-16/WON BY CLARKE WINTERS”. The serial number is marked on the lower tang. The No. 3 weight barrel has the two-line address on the upper flat and the caliber marking on the upper left at the breech. It is fitted with a spirit level globe front sight, elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight, and a tang mounted mid-range peep sight. It is mounted with a very finely figured, checkered Schnabel tip forearm with palm rest mounting point and ebony insert at the tip, and a checkered pistol grip stock with hard rubber grip cap, cheek piece, and a period modified refinished semi-crescent buttplate with assembly number 4099, which matches the buttstock. CONDITION: Fine, retains 50% of the faded blue finish with the balance having thinned to either a smooth grey or smooth brown patina and a few scattered patches of light surface pitting. The wood is also fine with some scattered minor handling marks, a spliced repair on the right rear upper edge of the forearm, and mostly crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Winchester Model 1885 Single Shot Rifle in .40-82 W.C.F. - Serial no. 69134, 40-82 WCF cal., 30 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. This Model 1885 High Wall sporting rifle was manufactured in 1893 and has the standard Winchester markings, blade and adjustable sporting sights, a smooth forearm with ebony Schnabel tip insert, and a straight wrist stock with standard rifle buttplate.
Introduced in 1885, Winchester’s .40-82 cartridge was designed to handle North America’s big game and succeeded in earning a positive reputation with hunters of elk and moose and was also used for hunting bears. CONDITION: Very good. 50% of the faded original blue finish remains, and patterns of mostly silvered out original case colors remain on the other components. The balance has a dark gray patina. There is some mild pitting at the muzzle, slight spotting, minor edge wear, and scattered minor marks. The wood is also fine with small scrapes and pressure marks. The action is excellent, and the markings are crisp. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750

Excellent Winchester Model 1885 High Wall Single Shot Musket in .22 LR - Serial no. 118869, 22 LR cal., 28 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured between 1913 and 1923, with standard markings including Winchester factory oval proofs on the barrel and receiver at the breech. The three-line patent and trademark information is on the upper tang and the serial number on the lower. The No. 1 weight barrel has the two-line address/patent marking, caliber marking at the breech, and is fitted with a Lyman hooded dual blade and peep front, along with a tang mounted folding Lyman peep rear sight. It is mounted with a smooth musket style forearm with finger gasping grooves and straight grip stock with a
sling swivel and military style buttplate. CONDITION: Excellent overall, with 90% plus of original blue finish retained with moderate handling wear and spotting, most notably on the right side of the receiver, barrel band, and buttplate.
The stock is also excellent, with scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,800 - 2,750

Antique Winchester Model 1885 High Wall Single Shot Rifle - Serial no. 49290, 32 WCF cal., 28 inch octagon bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1891. The top barrel flat is marked with the two-line address and caliber marking at the breech. The serial number is marked on the lower tang. It is fitted with a German silver blade front sight and elevation adjustable buckhorn rear sight. It is mounted with a Schnabel tip forearm with ebony insert and straight grip stock with a crescent buttplate. This rifle would have made an excellent pairing with a Colt Single Action Army revolver in .32
W.C.F., when long range work was needed. CONDITION: Fine, retains 75% of the original blue and casehardened finishes with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina. The wood is also fine with numerous
scattered minor dings and scratches scattered throughout. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 1,600 - 2,500

U.S. Marked Winchester Model 1885 Low Wall Winder Musket - Serial no. 127972, 22 short cal., 28 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Features blade front and Lyman receiver mounted adjustable peep sight, with the two-line Winchester address and patent markings on the left side ahead of “22 SHORT” and the Winchester “WP” stamp on top of the breech. The receiver marked with “US/ ordnance bomb” on the upper tang immediately behind the hammer. Fitted with smooth straight wrist stock, with steel capped full
length forearm, grasping grooves, and a smooth military style steel buttplate. Includes tan Kerr “No Buckle” web sling. CONDITION: Fine, with 60% plus of original blue finish retained with scattered handling marks, edge wear and smooth patina on the receiver, nose cap, and butt plate. The sanded, reoiled stock is very good, with light scattered handling marks and dents. Mechanically excellent.
