Springfield Armory Inc. SAR-48 Automatic Rifle, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. SA-2343, 7.62 mm Nato cal., 24 inch round bbl., matte grey phosphate finish, hardwood stock.
Manufactured by Springfield Armory using an Imbel-made receiver
and a set of Israeli parts, this is a registered reproduction of the Israeli “Makelon” squad automatic weapon. A variant of the FALO (Fusil Automatique Lourde, Heavy Automatic Rifle), the Makelon served alongside the “Romat” FAL as one of the Israeli Defense Force’s primary infantry weapons for the Six Day War, War of Attrition and the Yom Kippur War, eventually being phased out in favor of the Galil ARM squad automatic weapon. Post front and tangent peep rear sights, with a long flash hider and swiveling bipod at the muzzle, adjustable gas system at the front sight, stamped steel handguard with extra hardwood grip section, smooth pistol grip and a fixed buttstock with flip-up shoulder rest. The Springfield markings are present on the metric pattern receiver, with the trigger housing bearing Israeli markings with a right handed full auto/safe/semi selector switch. The bolt carrier is properly onfigured to engage the safety sear, which is present and accounted for in the receiver. Includes an unmarked shipping box. CONDITION: Excellent, with 98% plus matte gray phosphate finish, showing some light scratches and handling marks. The furniture is in equal condition, with some heavier dents on the wrist of the buttstock. Mechanically excellent. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. SWD M11/Nine Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA Fully Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. 84-0003535, 9 mm cal., 5 inch round bbl., matte grey finish, metal stock. A descendant of Ingram’s M10, the M11/Nine is made with a slightly longer receiver than the M11 to accommodate a caliber upgrade from 380 ACP to 9mm Parabellum and allow for a longer range
of bolt travel to dampen felt recoil. Fixed blade and peep sights, with the “SEMI/SMG” selector switch on the left side of the frame, safety switch next to the trigger guard and standard markings on the right side of the frame.
A swivel for a nylon strap grip (strap detached but included) is installed on the barrel behind the threading, with a contoured grip with the Cobray logo on the back and a collapsing wire stock. Included with the lot is a hand- numbered shipping box, loading tool, cleaning rod and manual.
CONDITION: Excellent, with 99% of the original matte black finish, showing some light handling marks overall. Mechanically excellent.
