1/4 inch round bbl., blue finish, hard
rubber grips. Manufactured in 1886 and
subsequently embellished, likely by a London retailer,
with extensive damascene gold inlay. The inlay primarily features floral patterns and zig-zag borders, as well as the Rampant Colt on the left of the frame. The top of the barrel has the two-line address and the left is marked “NEW HOUSE 38”. It has standard features including a pair of checkered hard rubber grips with “COLT” in ovals
at the top. The included factory letter confirms the configuration (grips not listed) apart from the damascene embellishment, as well as sale to the Colt London Agency and shipment to Winchester Repeating Arms Company on 1 February 1893. Includes a period custom leatherette wrapped hard case.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 60% of the retailer applied blue finish and nearly all of the gold damascene with some scattered patches of light pitting and oxidation. The grips are very good with a few scattered minor flat spots and light handling marks, otherwise crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some mild handling/storage wear.

Cased London Agency Shipped Colt Etched Panel New Line .41 Spur Trigger Revolver
- Serial no. 3831, 41 CF cal., 2 1/4 inch round bbl., nickel finish, hardwood grips. Manufactured 1876 with standard markings, including the “COLT NEW 41” in an etched panel
on the left of the barrel
and British proofs on the
bottom left of the barrel
and cylinder. “Von Oppen”
attributed Colt mark is
visible on the left top frame, rear of the recoil shield. Matching numbers are
present on the left of the grip frame, bottom of the barrel, rear face of the
cylinder, and penciled inside the left grip panel. It has standard features. Includes an oak case with Colt London Agency interior label, cleaning rod, key, and ten .41 CF cartridges.
CONDITION: Very fine, retains 90% plus of the original nickel finish with a few scattered patches of mild flaking on the muzzle and cylinder face, some minor markings slightly softened, and a well-defined etched panel. The grips are excellent with minimal handling marks, some light wear on high spots, and retaining almost all the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some mild handling/storage wear.

Attractive London Retailer Engraved, Inscribed Colt Third Model “Thuer” Derringer with Case - Serial no. 28290, 41 RF cal., 2 1/2 inch round bbl., nickel finish, smooth grips. These derringers were introduced in 1870 and totaled around 48,000 produced. This derringer has gorgeous factory quality engraving on over half of the metal surfaces consisting mainly of highly detailed scrollwork as well as an ornate floral band around the muzzle. It is likely the engraving was executed in Britain by a skilled artisan or the retailer. The right side of the frame in inscribed by the retailer “E.M. REILLY & Co. LONDON. The top of the barrel has a rounded blade front sight and “COLT” in large italic letters and the bottom of the barrel has small British proofs. It is fitted with a pair of smooth grips that are each stamped/branded “894” on the inside. Includes a lightly tool, brown leather wrapped, hard case, cleaning rod/ screwdriver, and a .41 RF cartridge. CONDITION: Very fine, retains 85% of the period, retailer applied, nickel finish with the balance having thinned to either a smooth grey patina or attractively aged brass and crisp engraving overall. The grips are also very fine with some hairline age cracks and an attractively aged tone overall with minimal handling evidence. Mechanically excellent. The case is fine with some mild wear and the lid slightly collapsed inward. Estimate: 3,000 - 4,500

London Agency Cased Colt Etched Panel New Line .41 Revolver with Very Scarce 4 Inch Barrel - Serial no. 427, 41 RF cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, hardwood grips. Manufactured in 1874 with standard markings, including what appears to be traces of an etched panel on the left of the desirable 4 inch barrel and British proofs on the cylinder. Matching numbers are present on the left of the grip frame and inked inside the both grip panels. It has standard features. Includes a hardwood case with Colt London Agency interior label, cleaning rod, key, and fourteen .41 RF cartridges.
CONDITION: Fine, retains 40% of the original blue finish and 80% of the vibrant original case colors with the balance having thinned to mostly a smooth grey patina. The grips are also fine with some light dings and scratches scattered throughout. The cylinder does not rotate or lock up (missing parts), otherwise mechanically functions. The case is fine with a small chip and minor crack on the bottom front left corner, and otherwise some minor handling/storage marks scattered throughout.
