LOT 3414 Mckinley Highsmith Upgraded Mauser Model 98 Bolt Action Rifle with Zeiss Scope - Serial no. 72977, 7x57 mm cal., 18 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Built off a Mauser action by Mckinley Verne Highsmith, a famed Memphis gunsmith. Fitted with ramped beaded blade front and three leaf (one standing two folding) rear express sights, a central barrel band with sling loop, “HIGHSMITH MEMPHIS” on top of the barrel, and “7x57” on the left of the chamber. The front receiver ring is matted and fitted with a dovetailed scope base, the bridge has an integral scope base, and the bolt has been fitted with a side safety for use with a scope. Topped with a Zeiss Diatal -C 4x32 scope. Mounted in a nicely figured multi-point checkered walnut pistol grip stock with ebony forend cap, casehardened grip cap, shadowline cheekpiece, and engraved and checked Neidner buttplate with compartment. CONDITION: Very fine as upgraded by Mckinley Verne Highsmith, retaining 99% plus professionally refinished blue finish with limited handling marks and some light cycling marks on the bolt. Stock is very fine with scattered dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent with slightly hazy optics and a crisp reticle. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000

Mckinley Vern Highsmith Upgraded German Model 98 Bolt Action Sporting Rifle with Zeiss Scope - Serial no. 113889, 7 mm magnum cal., 23 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Receiver manufactured in Germany and subsequently upgraded by Mckinley Verne Highsmith of Memphis, Tennessee. The barrel is fitted with ramped beaded blade front and express rear sights, as well as having a scope base mounted to the chamber. The barrel is marked “M. HIGHSMITH MAKER, MEMPHIS, TENN. The action has a matted flat on the front ring and integral scope base on the bridge, and double set triggers. It is topped off with a Zeiss Diavari-Z 1.5-6x42 scope. Mounted in a wonderfully figured multi-point checkered walnut stock with rosewood forend cap, blued steel grip cap, and red solid rubber recoil pad. CONDITION: Very fine overall as upgraded by Mckinley Highsmith, retaining 90% blue finish with limited handling marks, muzzle wear, and traces of a previous caliber marking above the serial number. The triggerguard and floorplate assembly and floorplate are a mix of blue and gray patinas Stock is very fine with scattered dings and scratches, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent with clear optics and a crisp reticle. Estimate: 3,000 - 5,000

Duane Weibe Upgraded Mauser Model 98 Bolt Action Rifle with Zeiss Scope - Serial no. 130391, 257 cal., 22 1/2 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured on a “1900” dated Model 98 action by Duane Weibe. He is a charter member of the American Custom Gunmakers Guild and has gained the honor of being one of the most respected custom rifle makers in the country. The barrel is fitted with a ramped beaded blade front sight and quarter rib mounted four leaf (one standing, three folding) sights, central barrel band with sling loop, marked “257 Roberts” on the left side. Mounted with a Zeiss Varipoint V 1.1-4x24T* scope. Fitted in a nicely contrasted multi-point checkered walnut stock signed “D.W. WEIBE/1981” in the inlet with rosewood forend cap, blued steel grip cap, shadow line cheekpiece, and smooth blued steel buttplate with compartment. CONDITION: Very fine as upgraded by Duane Weibe, retaining 95% blue finish with scattered light handling marks, muzzle and edge wear, and some bolt cycling marks. Wood is very good with minor dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent with clear optics and crisp reticle. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000

Engraved and Gold Inlaid Ed Mason Upgraded Walther Sportmodell Bolt Action Rifle with Scope - Serial no. 36352W, 22 LR cal., 19 1/2 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured by Walther and subsequently upgrade by Ed Mason. This rifle features a sightless barrel marked “ED MASON” on top and embellished with a gold band at the chamber as well as a spray of floral scroll engraving in front of a “W” border. The action is engraved in a similar pattern with the “W” borders and floral scroll. The casehardened bottom metal an blued triggerguard are engraved to match. Mounted atop the action is a Leupold Vari-X II 2-7x scope. The barreled action is fitted in a nicely contrasted and lightly figured multi-point checkered walnut stock with ebony forend tip, casehardened and engraved grip cap, shadowline cheekpiece, and casehardened Neidner buttplate with silicon carbide adhesive attached. CONDITION: Very fine, as upgraded by Ed Mason, retaining 99% plus professionally refinished blue and casehardened finishes with limited handling marks and crisp engraving. Stock is very fine with handling marks, a small repair on the left side of the tang, a slightly proud buttplate, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent with clear optics and a crisp reticle. Estimate: 2,500 - 4,000
LOT 3418 Upgraded Mauser Model 98 Bolt Action Rifle with Zeiss Scope - Serial no. 98150, 25-06 cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Built off a Mauser action, this rifle features a sightless barrel with a central band with sling loop marked “25-06” on the left of the chamber. The action features a matted front ring which is fitted with a dovetailed scope mount and integral rear mount which are fitted with a Zeiss Diavari-C 3-9x36 scope, three position safety, and double set triggers. Fitted on a wonderfully contrasted multi-point checkered walnut pistol grip stock with rosewood forend cap, blued steel grip cap, and checkered Neidner buttplate. CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 97% plus refinished blue finish with limited handling marks, some slight wear on the right side of the front trigger, and thinning on the gripstrap. Wood is fine with dings and scratches, a hairline crack at the toe, and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. Scope is excellent with clear optics and a crisp reticle.
