Collector’s Set of Eight Serialized Limited Edition Winchester Model 70 Bolt Action Rifles with Boxes Offered here is a gorgeous set of Winchester Custom Shop Model 70 rifles, all of which share a collector serial number. The first five rifles make up a matched set Winchester’s “Big Five” series of rifles which pay tribute to the classic five species of dangerous game which have found themselves to be the quarry of prolific hunters such as Theodore Roosevelt and Ernest Hemingway, and continue to be the coup de grace for a select few hunters to this day. The final three guns create a matched set of the WSM North American Big Game series, which celebrates the classic American game whose stories and mounts adorn hunting cabins across the United States. A mere 125 of each caliber was produced, but this is likely the only collector serialized set of all eight. -A) Winchester “Big 5” Model 70 Safari Classic Rifle in .375 H&H Magnum - Serial no. G0078BF1, 375 H&H magnum cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 2004. Features floral scroll engraving on the floorplate and triggerguard, with a gold inlaid lion on the floorplate, gold inlaid geometric border on the scene and bottom metal with “SAFARI/
CLASSIC” in gold. The bottom of the floorplate features a gold inlaid African continent and “Big 5”. The rifle also features a knurled bolt handle, engraved crossbolts, and jeweled bolt. Mounted in a checkered nicely figured, pistol grip stock with black rubber recoil pad. Includes certificate of authenticity listing the features of the rifle, original box and a generic hard case. CONDITION: Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original blue finish with limited handling marks, crisp engraving, and crisp stock checkering. Mechanically excellent.
