Inlaid Fabrique Nationale Express Over/Under Rifle with Case - Serial no. 2493, 9.3x74R cal., 25 3/4 inch solid rib bbl., blue/grey/gold finish, walnut stock. Blued steel barrels with ramped beaded blade front sight, flip up rear sight on the
rear quarter rib, which also hosts a pair of scope blocks, and leaf
engraving at either side of the breech. The French grey finished
action shows high areas left blue to create contrast and displays
deep cut floral scroll and leaf engraving surrounding deep relief
engraved and gold inlaid game scenes on either side of the
action. The left side shows a golden grizzly bear in a forested
scene standing before a totem and the right side shows a
golden polar bear standing over a seal, both scenes show
impressive detail and have a very pleasing three dimensional effect with distinct foreground and background. The engraving extends to the tangs, toplever, and triggerguard. The signature of Master Engraver Ken Warren is marked on the left of the trigger and reads “K. W. WARREN”. The beautifully figured, multi-point checkered, and highly contrasting wood consists of a Schnabel forend with matching engraved fittings and a pistol grip stock with a roaring bear’s head engraved grip cap and a
Browning buttplate. Includes a Browning Naugahyde takedown case. Length of pull 14 9/16 inches. Weight 7 lbs 8 oz. CONDITION: Excellent as professionally upgraded by Master Engraved Ken Warren, retaining 98% plus blue and 99% gold and
coin finishes, minimal minor handling evidence, and sharp checkering on the stock and forend. The case is very fine. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 7,000 - 10,000
leaf and acorn on punchdot background. Receiver tang also features oak leaves as well as cross hatch and punchdot motifs. Ahead of the trigger guard is engraved with a crown
extrusion with the initials “MM” in the oval. The banner below is inscribed “LP 1.2.94” suggesting an engraver’s initials. Mounted on a lightly figured walnut stock carved with oak leaf clusters
and basket weave checkering. Includes a hardwood case carved with a matching motif, extra set of twelve gauge barrels, and knife. Extra barrels with 2 3/4” chambers and are choked full/modified.
Length of pull: 14 3/16”. CONDITION: Excellent as embellished, retaining 99% plus original blue finish on both sets of barrels with very limited handling marks, crisp engraving on the receiver. Wood is very good with a ding on the left stock flat and crisp carving and checkering. Case is very fine with limited minor storage and handling marks and high edge wear in the lining. Knife is excellent with limited handling marks and an attractive patina on the brass fittings. Mechanically excellent. Estimate: 3,500 - 5,500
