Korean War Era U.S. Willys M38A1C Jeep with Deactivated M40 Recoilless Rifle - Manufactured by Willys c. 1952, the M38A1 was the military version of the
commercial CJ-5. Power is supplied by a 72 horsepower Willys Hurricane 14 F-head straight 4 head engine. Introduced amidst the Korean war, the M38A1C was
the light and highly mobile anti-tank configuration of the Jeep fitted with the largest and last issued recoilless rifle to see service with the U.S. military. Adoption
of the M38A1C spanned the globe, with active military use in Australia, Brazil, Canada, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Pakistan, Peru, Morocco, Republic of the Congo, Spain,
and Uganda. The M38A1 family of Jeeps saw continued service, to include heavy deployment in the Vietnam war, up until its retirement in 1980. Features a
de-milled M40 106 mm recoilless rifle, marked “80063-SC-D-645715/MFG 32460”, along
with its de-milled M8 spotting rifle. Includes four 106 mm dummy rounds and a rubber
M16 stowed on the driver’s side.
CONDITION: Excellent as restored with minor storage wear and minor light oxidation on
the body. This Jeep has a smooth olive-drab paint job, and crisp markings across the
body. Tires are also fine. Mechanically functions. An impressive M38A1C that would fit well
in any military collector’s garage!
