Scarce and Desirable DWM Model 1902 “Fat
Barrel” American Eagle Commercial Luger Semi-
Automatic Pistol in 9 mm Luger with Holster - Serial
no. 22999, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue/straw
finish, checkered walnut grips. Manufactured c. 1902-1904 in
Germany by Deutsche Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken (DWM)
as the first pistols available in the now ubiquitous 9 mm Luger
(9x19 mm Parabellum) cartridge, largely for export to foreign commercial markets like
the United States, with an estimated total production of 500 to 600 pistols manufactured
in the 22100-23500 serial number range as listed on page 70 of “Lugers At Random” (1990
revision) by Charles Kenyon Jr. Features fixed period installed replacement Sheard pattern
beaded blade front and standard notch rear sights, an “American eagle” coat of arms marked
on top of the chamber, “DWM” monogram on the front toggle link, the distinct 4 inch long “fat”
barrel, a recessed breech block, dished toggle knobs with a toggle lock on the right side of the frame,
correctly polished lower safety lever position, “GERMANY” export mark on the front of the short pattern
frame without a stock lug, grip safety, and a flat recoil spring on the interior. Matching serial numbers on
the front of the frame and underside of the barrel, along with matching “99” partial serial numbers visible
on the takedown lever, trigger, slide plate, grip safety. both toggle links, and barrel extension. Fitted with a
pair of checkered walnut grips and a nickel plated magazine correctly marked “Cal. 9m/m.” on the
walnut base. Includes an unmarked dark leather flap holster.
CONDITION: Very fine, retaining 80% original blue finish and 60% plus original straw colors, some light
edge wear, smooth grey patina, some minor spotting, minor handling marks, and clear markings. The
grips are also very fine with minor rub and compression wear to the well-define checkering. Mechanically
excellent. The holster is very good.

Very Fine Antique German Mauser Model 1896 Cone Hammer Broomhandle Semi-
Automatic Pistol with Matching Holster Stock - Serial no. 9080, 7.63 mm cal., 5 1/2 inch
round bbl., blue finish, walnut grips. Manufactured c. 1897, a scarce four-digit example serialized “9080”. Features fixed bade front and rage adjustable
tangent rear (graduated from 50 to 500 meters), the three-line “WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF A/N” address marking on the top of the chamber,
along with a commercial “crown/Crown/U” test proof on the left of the extension and an Oberndorf “antler” proof on the right of the extension. Matching
visible serial numbers on the frame, cone hammer, bolt, follower, floorplate, rear sight, and takedown stud. Fitted with a pair of ribbed walnut grips with
matching “9080” serial numbers stamped on the interiors. Includes a walnut shoulder stock with matching “9080” serial number on the attaching iron.
CONDITION: Fine, retaining 80% plus original blue finish with a non-factory dovetail style cut added to the rear base of the front sight, an absent rear sight
slide tab and spring assembly, light edge wear, some minor freckling/spotting, thinning on the grip straps with smooth grey and brown patinas, minor
handling marks focused at the front of the magazine well, and crisp markings. The grips are also fine as re-oiled with well-defined ribbing. Mechanically
excellent. The holster stock is fine with scattered minor handling marks in the wood and some minor
spotting on the metal. Overall an attractive example of an antique cone hammered Mauser Model 1896
Broomhandle pistol with the matching holster stock!
