Excellent and Extremely Rare Late World War II
German Luftwaffe Contract “1944” Dated Krieghoff
P.08 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol - Serial no. 11298, 9 mm
Luger cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue/straw finish, plastic grips. Manufactured in 1944, one of an
estimated total of just 275 P.08 Luger pistols produced that year by Krieghoff for the German
Luftwaffe (air force) as shown in the table on page 261 of “Third Reich Lugers” by Jan Still. The only
official supplier of Luger pistols for the Luftwaffe, Krieghoff produced examples display a much finer fit
and finish (more in line with commercial production) than other Lugers of the era, with even this later World
War II production example displaying bright blue finish and straw colors. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, the “1944” date
on top of the chamber, “H(anchor)K/KRIEGHOFF/SUHL” marked on top of the toggle link, along with drooped wing “eagle/2” Luftwaffe proofs
on the barrel and barrel extension, along with droop wing “eagle” firing proofs on the barrel extension and breech block. Matching full serial
numbers on the frame, barrel, and barrel extension, along with matching “98” partial serial numbers visible on small parts. Fitted with a pair of black
checkered plastic grips and a correct pattern “122” code and “eagle/37” proofed blued magazine with non-matching “11259” numbered alloy base, which
is less than 40 numbers away from the pistol!
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus original bright blue finish and 70% plus original straw colors with light edge
wear, some minor spotting/pitting, light handling marks focused on the trigger guard, along with crisp markings and
proofs. the grips are very fine with light handling wear and
well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent. Overall an
attractive example of a rare late World War II “1944”
dated Luftwaffe contract Krieghoff P.08 Luger pistol!

LOT 1406
Rare World War II Eickhorn Luftwaffe General Officer Presentation Sword with
Scabbard - Measuring 39 1/2 inches overall, with a 33 1/4 inch single fuller blade with
the Eickhorn maker logo on the left ricasso and etched decorative panels on each side,
the right marked “In dankbarer Anerkennung” (“In grateful Recognition”), and the left “Der
Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe (“The Commander-in-Chief of the Luftwaffe”) next to a
rendering of Hermann Goering’s signature. The hilt is gold washed, with a set of folding
counter-guards, a nickel plated Luftwaffe eagle on the right guard, wire wrapped orange
celluloid grip and a silver sword knot. Included with the lot is a black leather scabbard with
gold washed fittings. The identity of the recipient of the sword is unknown.
CONDITION: The blade is bright polished, otherwise very fine overall with some material
loss on the sword knot, a bend in the scabbard tip, fair leather and minor handling marks
overall. The scabbard fittings and hilt retain most of the gilt finish.
