Rare Parker
Brothers .410 Bore
VHE Grade Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial
no. 236237, 410 gauge, 26 inch solid rib bbl., blue/
casehardened finish, walnut stock. Manufactured in 1933 as one of only
463 manufactured in this configuration per the chart on page 258 of “The Parker
Story” by Gunther, Mullins, Parker, Price, and Cote and even fewer still, only 17%, were
made with ejectors making this a very rare gun indeed. The grade, gauge, barrel length, and
ejectors below are confirmed on page 589 of “Parker Gun Identification & Serialization” by Price
and Fjestad, though the stock is listed as a straight grip, it is numbered to the gun below the tang and appears
original indicating that it may be a factory recoding error. This gun was built with blued steel barrels featuring
a single bead sight on the matted concave solid rib which is marked “PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN. CT.
U.S.A. VULCAN. STEEL”, and chambers measured 3 inches with automatic ejectors. The barrels are fitted to a
casehardened size 000 frame boxlock action which displays the standard Grade V zig-zag border engraving
with “Parker Bros.” on either side and features double triggers and a tang mounted automatic safety. The gun
is fitted with a lightly figured and multi-point checkered splinter forend as well as a capped pistol grip stock
with blank silver inscription shield and Parker dog’s head buttplate. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore
diameter nine inches from the breech .411/.411 inches; choke constriction .012/.014 inches; 1 11/16 inch drop
at comb; 2 7/8 inch drop at heel; 14 1/8 inch length of pull; weight 5 lbs. 9 oz.
CONDITION: Very fine overall, retaining 97% original blue finish, 80% original case colors with some muting,
a few patches of minor spotting, some light dings and scratches in the wood, a small crack at the heel of the
buttplate, and crisp checkering on the stock and forend. Mechanically excellent. This is a great chance to own
a rare American small bore gun!
Provenance: The Michael Tenny Collection.
Estimate: 15,000 - 25,000
