The barrels of guns “1” and “2” are fitted to gorgeous
brushed bright finished pinless sidelock actions
which display highly attractive relief carved
black leaf floral scroll engraving over a matted
background surrounding gold inlaid “P. V. NELSON”
signatures on either side of the action bars beneath
the lockplate arms, “P. V. NELSON/LONDON” in gold
on the underside, and a trio of relief carved game
scenes. The game scenes on gun “1” consist of a
flock of black ducks taking flight over a pond on
the left lockplate, a trio of alighting mallards on the
underside, and a trio of woodcocks in flight over a
pond on the right lockplate. Gun “2” shows a flock
of teal in flight over a pond on the left lockplate, a
pair of Gadwall ducks alighting on the underside,
and a flock of pintails in flight over a pond on the
right lockplate.
Gun “3” features a vibrantly case colored pinless
sidelock action which displays the P. V. Nelson
markings in gold in the same positions but this
time they are surrounded by near full coverage
gold inlaid scrolling grape vine designs and a pair
of game scenes. The game scenes show a trio of
chukar (red legged partridge) feeding on the left
lockplate and a pair of feeding pheasant cocks
on the right lockplate. Both the game scenes a
rendered in highly detailed multi-colored gold
inlays of the highest quality.
All three guns also have their respective
embellishment, carved black leaf scroll on “1” and
“2”, and gold vines on “3”, continuing off of the
actions and onto the toplever which shows a gold
“1”, “2”, or “3”, the trigger guard, and both the upper
and lower tang. The guns are all signed on both
lockplates beneath the game scenes “K. C. Hunt”
along with the date of completion.
