World War II U.S. Auto-Ordnance M1A1 Thompson Submachine Gun, Class III/NFA C&R Fully
Transferable Machine Gun - Serial no. 386974, 45 ACP cal., 10 1/2 inch round bbl., matte gray finish,
hardwood stock. Introduced in 1942 as the final wartime revision of the Thompson Submachine Gun,
the M1A1 further streamlined the Thompson design, while still retaining the rugged construction that
made it popular as a combat weapon, seeing service on all fronts in American and Allied hands. While
all Thompson variants were on paper made obsolete by the M3/M3A1, they would continue to serve as
late as the Vietnam War. Blade front and fixed rear sights, with an “A.O.C.” marked machined receiver with
“G.H.D.” and “crossed cannons” stamps on the left. The trigger housing is unnumbered, with simplified
dual control switches, grooved pistol grip, fixed buttstock stamped “AA” on the right side, and a tan canvas
sling. Bolt is M1A1 pattern, “A.O.C.” marked,
with a fixed firing pin on the bolt face, and
no provision for a Blish lock or oiler, and
the buffer is “S” marked. Magazine absent.
CONDITION: Very fine, 85% arsenal
refurbished gray parkerized finish, with
some areas of thinning, edge wear and
handling marks. The wood is good as
sanded and refinished, with scuffs and
dents. Mechanically excellent. NOTE:
This weapon is a National Firearms Act
(NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is
registered with the Bureau of Alcohol,
Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE)
that is classified as a “Curios or Relic” as
