Excellent and Scarce World War II German “Eagle/L” Police Proofed and
Unit Marked “1940” Date Mauser Banner Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol Rig
with Holster and Two Matching Magazines - Serial no. 3878x, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue
finish, walnut grips. Manufactured in 1940, and one of an estimated total of 3,300 Mauser “banner” Luger
pistols procured that year by the German Police with “eagle/(swastika) L” acceptance proofs,
reportedly around the 2589x-5772x serial number range, as discussed on page 146 of “Third
Reich Lugers” by Jan Still. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, the “1940” date stamp
on top of the barrel extension, the Mauser “banner” marked on top of the toggle link, commercial “eagle/N”
proofs on the left side of the barrel extension and breech block, along with the aforementioned police proof
on the right side of the barrel extension. Matching full military pattern serial numbers on the frame and barrel
extension, along with matching “78” partial serial numbers visible on small parts except the breech block hold open
device (numbered “79” in possible error). The front strap is etched with a “S.P. Gn. 8.” police unit marking (likely for the
Potsdam district) on the front strap. Fitted with a pair of checkered walnut grips and a blued magazine with matching
numbered alloy base. Includes a “A.FISCHER/BERLINC2” marked, “1940” dated, and “eagle/(swastika)” proofed dark leather
flap holster, a takedown tool, and an extra blued magazine with matching numbered alloy base.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 95% plus original blue finish with some light edge wear, plum
coloration on the correct unserialized and commercially proofed barrel, a light safety drag line,
limited freckling, along with crisp and bright markings and proofs. The grips are very fine with
minor handling wear in the well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent. The holster is fine
with some minor age creases and supple leather. Overall an attractive example of a World War II
era “1940” dated German “eagle/L” police proofed Mauser “banner” Luger pistol complete with the
holster rig and two matching magazines!

Excellent Pre-World War II German Mauser “S/42” Code “1938” Date Luger
Semi-Automatic Pistol Rig with Holster and Two Matching Magazines
- Serial no. 9537k, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue finish,
checkered walnut grips. Manufactured in 1938. Features fixed blade
front and notch rear sights, “1938” date on top of the barrel extension,
“S/42” code on top of the toggle link, two “eagle/63” proofs on the right of
the barrel extension, and “droop wing eagle” firing proofs on the barrel, barrel
extension, and breech block. Matching serial numbers, on the frame, barrel, and barrel
extension, with matching “37” partial serial numbers visible on small parts. Fitted with a pair
of checkered walnut grips and a blued magazine with a matching numbered and “eagle/63”
proofed alloy base. Includes an “O.REICHEL/LENGEFELD.”
maker marked, “eagle/(swastika)/WaA142” proofed, and “1937” dated leather flap holster with takedown tool and
an extra blued magazine with matching numbered “+” marked and “eagle/63” proofed alloy base.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 97% plus original blue finish with some minor holster pattern edge wear, limited
minor freckling, minor handling marks, along with clear and bright markings. The grips are also excellent with
some light handling marks in the crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. The holster is fine with
supple leather and clear markings. Overall an attractive example of an original pre-World
War II 1938 production Mauser “S/42” code Luger pistol!

Excellent and Desirable Pre-World War II German Luftwaffe Contract
Krieghoff “1937” Date P.08 Luger Semi-Automatic Pistol with Matching
Magazine - Serial no. 6821, 9 mm Luger cal., 4 inch round bbl., blue/straw finish,
checkered plastic grips. Manufactured in 1937, one of approximately 2,500 Luger pistols manufactured that year by Krieghoff under
contract for the German Luftwaffe (air force). As the only official supplier of Luger pistols for the Luftwaffe, Krieghoff produced examples
display a much finer fit and finish (more in line with commercial production) than other Lugers of the era, and even rate among the finest
examples of the Luger ever produced. Features fixed blade front and notch rear sights, the “1937” date marked on top of the barrel extension, the
“H(anchor)K/KRIEGHOFF/SUHL” manufacturer marking on top of the toggle link, drooped wing “eagle/2” proofs on the barrel and barrel extension,
along with drooped wing “eagle” firing proofs on the barrel, barrel extension, and breech block. Matching full serial numbers on the frame, barrel, and barrel extension, along with
matching “21” partial serial numbers visible on small parts. Fitted with a pair of brown checkered plastic grips and a stainless steel magazine with matching numbered and dropped
wing “eagle/2” proofed alloy base.
CONDITION: Excellent, retaining 90% plus original blue finish and 75% plus original straw colors with light holster pattern
edge wear, some light rub wear/silvering on the straw colored parts, minor cycling wear, a few small areas of
thinning/silvering, along with clear proofs. The grips are also excellent with crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
Overall an attractive example of a pre-World War II era “1937” dated Luftwaffe contract Krieghoff Luger pistol with a
matching magazine!
