Angelo Bee Signed,
Master Engraved, and Gold Inlaid Pachmayr
Upgraded Parker Brothers DHE Grade
Double Barrel Shotgun - Serial no. 145992, 12
gauge, 30 inch solid rib bbl., blue/gold finish,
walnut stock. This fantastic shotgun started life in 1907 as a DHE Grade gun
and was subsequently upgraded to its current configuration by the legendary Pachmayr firm and then
embellished by world renowned Master Engraver Angleo Bee. The gun has blued barrels featuring a single brass bead sight on the
matted concave solid rib which is marked “PARKER BROS. MAKERS. MERIDEN, CONN. TITANIC STEEL”, a single gold band with wedges
of scroll engraving at the muzzle, “Custom by F. Pachmayr” inlaid in gold near the left breech, and 3 inch wedges of beautiful scroll
engraving interwoven with gold linework surrounding a quail in flight at the left breech and a grouse at the right. The barrels are
fitted to the blued action with added sideplates which is engraved with leafy scrollwork over a matted backgound and gold borders
around a trio of multi-color inlaid quail in flight on the left sideplate and a trio of flushing grouse on the right. There is an additional
gold inlaid scenes depicting a flock of mallards on the underside and a quail on the trigger guard. Angelo Bee has signed his work “A.BEE”
on the left sideplate and “A. BEE (bumblebee)” on the underside. The gun features sideclips, double triggers, and a tang mounted manual safety.
The gun is fitted with a stunning feather crotch figured and oak leaf and acorn carved and checkered splinter forend with engraved iron and ebony tip inlay as well as a pistol
grip stock with blued steel grip cap and checkered butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter nine inches from the breech .732/.731 inches; choke constriction
.036/.036 inches; minimum wall thickness .031/.033 inches; 1 7/16 inch drop at comb; 2 inch drop at heel; 14 9/16 inch length of pull; weight 8 lbs. 1 oz.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as Pachmayr upgraded and embellished by Master Engraver Angelo Bee, retaining 98% plus blue and gold finishes, minor handling marks, and
some minor high edge wear on the barrels at the breech. The wood shows crisp checkering and carving. There is some lateral movement in the barrels when opened; otherwise,
mechanically excellent. A great chance to own a wonderful piece of firearms art!
