.404 Jeffery - Serial no. I1349, 404 Jeffery cal., 24 inch round bbl., blue/casehardened/gold finish,
walnut stock. The Jung family has been making weapons in Germany for nearly 600 years, with
the most recent, and current, member of the family being Theo Jung. In more recent years, Theo
Jung has crafted some of the finest bolt action rifles on the planet, with this rifle being an excellent
example of his, and his shop’s, mastery of the art of fine gunmaking. This rifle was built with a blued
barrel featuring a banded ramped beaded blade fore sight with Holland & Holland type flip-up
moon bead, barrel band with front sling eye, and spear point quarter rib fitted with a three-leaf (one
standing, two folding) rear sight with gold centerlines and marked “CAL. 404 JEFFERY” in gold with a
gold border. The barrel is also marked “MANUFACTUR T. JUNG - LOHMAR” in gold on the top.
The barrel is fitted to the vibrantly casehardened magnum length double square bridge
Mauser 98 type controlled round feed action which displays attractive scroll engraving which
continues onto the bolt shroud, straddle floorplate, and inside-the-bow release trigger guard. The
extractor, collar, trigger, and parts of the bolt release display beautiful brilliant nitre blue and the bolt knob is full
checkered. There is a small import mark on the action. The bridges both show gold inlaid borders on the top, a gold inlaid
border around the checkering on the bolt handle, and a gold inlaid “F” (fire) indicator accompanying the three-position
safety. The rifle is fitted in a magnificently well-figured and mullered border multi-point checkered pistol grip stock with
ebony forend tip, casehardened and engraved steel grip cap, casehardened engraved recoil bolt with gold inlaid border,
shadowline cheekpiece, blank gold inscription oval, inletted rear sling eye, and a leather covered recoil pad.
CONDITION: Excellent overall as virtually unfired, retaining 99% original blue, casehardened, and gold finishes with minor
handling evidence, a few minor scratches on the stock, sharp checkering on the stock. Mechanically excellent. This is a
wonderful opportunity to own a fantastic dangerous game rifle!
