Very Attractive Michael W.
Dubber Signed Master Engraved
Winchester Model 94 Lever
Action Carbine - Serial no. 3662008,
30-30 Win cal., 20 inch round bbl.,
blue/satin chrome finish, walnut
stock. Originally manufactured
in 1972, this Winchester Model 94 carbine was subsequently beautifully embellished and
upgraded. An included copy of a signed document from FEGA Master Engraver Michael W. Dubber indicates
that this carbine was engraved by himself, with gunsmithing and bluing done by Brian Crosby of Chandler,
Indiana, and the chromium finish done by Mahovsky’s Metalife in Grand Valley, Pennsylvania. Dubber notes
that the engraving is American scrollwork reminiscent of work by L.D. Nimschke and that it covers around
90% of the receiver, with additional scrollwork on the lever, barrel, and barrel band. The top of the barrel at
the breech has an oval “WP” proof, while the Winchester trademark, model, caliber, and address are marked
on the left. The serial number is on the bottom of the receiver along with Dubber’s signature and 2012 date. It is fitted with a ramped and hooded
beaded blade front sight and an elevation adjustable rear sight. It is mounted with an upgraded, incredibly figured, multi-point checkered black walnut forearm and straight
grip stock with a checkered hard rubber shotgun buttplate. The consignor notes that the woodwork was carried out by Gary Lee Goudy.
CONDITION: Exceptionally fine as professionally upgraded and masterfully engraved by Michael Dubber, retaining 99% plus of the blue and satin chrome finishes with only the slightest
handling evidence and crisp engraving. The Gary Goudy upgraded wood is also near new with only the slightest handling marks and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
Provenance: The Frank Brownell Collection.
Estimate: 5,500 - 7,500
